Pre snowstorm dinner with Gary and Danielle in Phila.on a VERY cold night! (Helm BYOB, Philadelphia, PA) : First wine of the evening. Opened, decanted and rebottled about 2 hours prior to drinking. Light, somewhat translucent cinnamon ruby color. Nose showing mild red fruits. Palate of red fruits/cherry, rhubarb, cherry candy, cola.. Earth and mineral notes though mid palate and finish. First bottle from this batch. At home with Val, dinner was a good excuse to try this vintage. Splash decanted, drank over an hour. Medium, vibrant ruby color. Nose showing red fruits, saturated strawberry. Palate of bright cherry, rhubarb, cherry cola, bramble berries. Earth notes though mid palate and finish. Mineral and lees/batonnage (?)
