The fresh spiciness has faded, still good, but the magic has gone.

Nase fruchtig, süss, mit exotischen Notenausgabe; am Gaumen voll, etwas Pfeffer. Langer Abgang. Guter Wein, aber für meinen Geschmack zuviel Holz.

Beautiful GV, spices hidden in the nose, but perfect present in the mouth with the fruit and sweetness that being to a real GV, followed by a relative long aftertaste. Lovely.

Quite a different wine for me. Deep lemon colour. Quite closed nose with spiciness, lanolin and something more floral than fruity. Intense spicy, oily, mineral palate with very good length. Definitely an interesting wine, challenging in a way, but in the end a worthwhile experience. I'm not sure, but I can imagine this could become even more interesting with further bottle age.

This wine is part of a couple of mixed cases of gruner I bought recently (4 wines total). This is my favorite of the 3 I've tried so far. May be a vintage thing or a producer thing, but this is much lighter, less thick than the others. Maybe it won't age as long, but it's much more delicious and drinkable now. Or maybe this is just more my style.

2008 Gruner Veltliners (Vin Vino, Palo Alto) : Spiritous, floral, and perfumed like a Gewurztraminer! Curiously thin and harsh like that grape with cyanic bitterness at the end. Good minerality but just not enough fruit and too strange. My least favorite wine by a mile.
