Day 1: Perfume, spice box, rose petals, mushrooms, wood, bay leaves, cranberry and dried strawberries. Wonderful nose and palate good but not as good as the nose otherwise more points. 91 points Day 2: More open with perfume, pine needles, rose petals, cherry, cranberry and spice. Rustic style and nice acidity. 92 points Day 3: So much better and when sampled at the winery they held all wines for me for 3 days! This is a very similar experience to …

Thomas and Birgir's Oregon Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Tasting (Ariana 2, Kilburn, London) : Like this. Some Maraschino cherry, a touch of shortbread biscuit, a touch of blueberry coulis and just a hint earthiness. Rich and deep wine. With air palate reveals some peppered plum fruit, some tart rosehips and just a touch of vanilla pod. Good stuff

Oregon wines of North London (Ariana II) : Attractively autumnal bouquet, with some damp earth notes that were absent from the other reds tonight. Sweet purple fruit on the palate, balanced by a more rustic undergrowthy side. Very drinkable, and very good, although outshone by the Cameron.

Ripe raspberries, ripe red cherries, white button mushrooms, limestone, mustard powder and a hint of reductivity/plastic on the nose. Medium + intensity of aromas. The palate is more spice driven, showing flavors of black pepper, ground cumin, ground coriander, white button mushrooms, dried leaves and truffle. Medium + intensity of flavors. Lengthy at 7, with a 30 second long finish focusing on the mushrooms/dried leaves. Medium body with medium + acid and soft medium tannins. This shows off Abbott Claim's …

Abbott Claim (3 day wines) Off the Charts!!! (Abbott Claim Winery) : Love them as they held these for 3 days for me! First wine tasted today at Abbott Claim winery. Very nice showing with strawberries, minerals, cranberries, earth, mild oak and bright red currants. Medium plus finish. Showing really well but plenty of time left on this.

This is improving, but still needs time. The nose initially is tight with red fruit and floral notes; 60 minutes of air helps and it shows riper red fruit, black tea, hint of damp earth, floral, mineral notes, and a hint of blood orange. The palate is fresh and vibrant with great acidity; still some tannic structure and the depth improves with air; great with food now, but really will be better in another 5 years.

Structurally, quite sound. Good mouthfeel, profound acidity on the finish. But feels simple flavorwise, especially for the price. Maybe in a quiet phase?

Abbott Claim Chardonnays and Pinots with Alban Debeaulieu (Cru and Domaine, Portland OR) : The nose shows off a richer side with tart tones of raspberries, ripe plums, dark red cherries, baking spices, violets, sour red berries, violets, fresh herbs, and rose petals. There is good depth and balance while showing off a bit more flesh to the tones. The Medium bodied feel has a plush quality to it with good depth and expression that is backed up with crisp, …

Another lovely bottle; the nose initially shows bright red fruits, orange peel, and floral notes, with air some black tea and spice emerge alongside just a hint of damp earth. Fresh and vibrant yet with lovely intensity of fruit. Really good with food. An impressive 2018 for its balance and freshness as I have found many 2018s that are heavy and overripe. Hasn't changed much since I first tasted it really so should continue to age well.

This was another very nice bottle. The nose is still definitely red fruit driven, but has orange peel, black tea, and with air lots of floral perfume. The palate is very well balanced with juicy acidity and great freshness especially considering the ripeness of the vintage. It still delivers lovely fruit concentration and intensity. The finish is still tightened up just a touch by the tannins, but with food it is really tasty. Should continue to improve for 8-10 years. …

Abbott Claim with Alban Debeaulieu (Medlar, London) : Mag. Served a little cooler. Nicely balanced. Mid red fruit, some padding but nothing overdone. Rounded and a little more approachable than the 19 currently. Warms and rounds a little and shows s little less definition than the 19. ***

Deep ruby red in colour, nose shows red fruits, seems a little warmer and more savoury and not quite as focused as the 2019s on show but nevertheless a lovely drop. From Riedel Burgundy.

This was quite good. Mid weight, very pure red fruits. C thought a little too much oak coming through at this stage. Would be great to revisit in a couple years. Happy to drink again but not sure we’ll actively seek out at this price point (vs some others we love in Oregon).

Real surprise here. I'm used to Yamhill-Carlton being a little bombastic on a good day and totally overblown on a bad. This wine was restrained, elegant, mineral forward, and an absolute stunner. In fact I would have tagged this as a Dundee Hills wine any day. It has that iron minerality and sanguine character that, I just can't understand how they even got that to express in this fruit on this hillside. Bright fresh raspberry and cured red cherry notes. …

Needed to try a bottle after the tasting experience to confirm my impressions; yes this is lovely. The nose has ripe cherry, red currant, orange peel, a hint of spice, and floral notes. I don't really notice the black tea today. The palate is fresh and vibrant with lovely acidity, but also good depth and density of fruit. This is still so young so I will try to hold my other bottles for at least a year or two to …

Tasted at the winery; this was an eye opening tasting; Abbott Claim was planted in stages starting in 2001 and is along the Savannah Ridge in Yamhill-Carlton; the nose here is exquisite and complex; pale in color the initial notes are earthy forest floor, bright cherry and red currant, floral notes, earl grey tea, and a hint of citrus peel; the palate is elegant and ethereal yet does not lack concentration; there is some structure, but the balance is so …
