The most evolved and tertiary of the three. This bottle showed a much riper, almost opulent profile, with the fruit leaning toward a jammy, "overripe" character. While the secondary notes of leather and dried earth are "popping," the palate feels more advanced than its siblings. It is the darkest and most solar expression of the flight, favoring richness over tension.

Excellent barolo. Certainly time to drink as it’s likely on the downside side of its lifespan. Lots of sediment. Nice 2-3 hour decant. Dark fruits with hints of blueberry jam and fig paste. Chalky mouthfeel. Back end of forest floor with hints of balsam, eucalyptus, olive, rose and hints of vanilla. Slight taste of brick as well. Loved it with ribeye.

Hedonistic expression of Barolo. Anything below 93 doesn’t do this Cerequio justice, in my opinion. Polished, incredibly refined tannins, exceptional structure with a silky finish. Wild raspberries, black cherries, plum, hint of sweet spice on the palate. Immense complexity. Drinking beautifully right now, and will probably continue to do so the next 10-15+ years. Very perfumed nose of classic Nevbiolo aromas. Firm tannin but the fruit powers through especially when paired with the lamb dish. Very fine wine.

Still very deep purple. Blackcurrant, roses, figs and leather on the nose. Classic Nebbiolo palate now starting to trend tertiary. The oak has totally resolved - although still present. Really rather soft and gentle, this could have probably done with a little more tannin for my taste but in a nice place now. Like a once fierce dog, now happy to doze in front of the fire. My last bottle and happy to have drunk up today as this is …

Upon opening it seemed a little disjointed, with primary fruit on one side and high tannins and high acid levels on the other. After about 2 hours in the decanter and then poured back into the bottle it came together quite nicely, but still was very reticent on the nose and palate. Hold for 5 or 10 more years easily.

Opened bottle and poured off one glass, allowing slo-ox for about one hour. Color shows evidence of age with significant bricking. Initial taste upon opening showed some effervescent that blew off by the time we started dinner. The nose was Madeira-like, taste was dry flavors of prunes with a medium mouth feel, and a long finish.

Double decanted in the AM and taken to a friend’s house for dinner. This is definitely a modern, new barrique-oaked Barolo, but it is not unattractive. It has a nice round mouth feel and texture with the expected vanilla and tobacco elements as well as black cherry and mushroom. Fairly long finish. Good with a seared thick cut pork chop and ricotta, pear ravioli. Not a very good QPR and certainly not the 97 pt wine Galloni characterized on three …

Barolo night at Table At 7. Tasted semi-blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Few hours of air in bottle beforehand. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of VA nail polish, high toned artificial sweet red cherry liqueur, plasticky bubble solution/glycerine. Underlying bright red fruit. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), integrated high tannins, medium+ body. I wasn't crazy about this bottle. I'm not oak-averse as such, but here the prominent French oak overwhelmed the fruit for me. I wonder (oddly) if this might have come off as more balanced in its youth, contrary to the norms I know but how else to reconcile the TNs from well-qualified CT members?

A lifeless brown colour. Cork was perfect - long, very high quality, and no runs up the side at all. Oxidised nose, notes of madeira. I don't think there was any bacterial problem not heat problems (flawless cork), so will have to chalk this up to a modernist Barolo that has fallen apart already. A shame, Voerzio's 2001 Brunate from a few years ago was enjoyable.

Aged Barolo (aka Q1 wine club) (The Apt) : Wine #6: This wine came across as both incredibly young but also with a lot of promise. It's black and red fruits (more currant I think than anything else). Also a little bit of that 'prettiness' that I like in a wine. Some spice. A bit more tightly wound than I would have liked. Opened a touch when I revisited later, but it def could have used a long decant. (9 …

Probably one of my favorite wines of the tasting - just drinking really well right now although definitely on the younger side of the wines in the line up. Truffles with the SLDS (CFs) : Oak, blueberry, ash and cherry. Still shows heavy structure on the palate, the fruit is rich but gets hidden a bit at the moment. Intense across many elements and I feel like another 10 years would really help it settle and show its best.

I found this young, could use another 5+ years to peak (despite being a 2000). Pretty big wine, quite dark purple with ruby hints. Large nose of dark fruit and tar. Very nice on the palate with the fruit made interesting by spice and floral elements. Super clean.

Terrific mature juice. Dark crimson with minimal dusting of sediment., this wine is fully mature. Breathtakingly complex nose of dark berries and tar set among a table covered with roses. Red fruit core. Super complex and layered. If a date, this was a 30 year old sex kitten with a PhD in medieval philosophy who communicates brilliantly in 20th century language. kul att läsa att detta vin inte var öppet alls för ett år sen i Rambergs recension så är inte fallet idag anser jag.

Barolo-Barbaresco 2001 (and perhaps older...). (Bern) : Oak on the nose, but acceptable. On the palate it's very ripe, lacks freshness, heavy in fact. Not to my liking... 4 days later: first I think the oak is less prominent, but then caramel comes up, and an alcoholic toasted note reminding of cognac. On the palate again it almost feels like cognac. The tannins seem to come from the oak. No good. 5 days later: now it's all on dried fruit, …

Popped and poured, no decant Beautiful showing Barolo, from one of the masters! Still very young and primary, with massive, big and lovely mouth coating tannins. Nose is undisputable top end Barolo, with glue, acetone black and blue cherries and some fine red and ripe raspberries in a second layer. On the palate, big tannins, huge, great structure, a touch more approachable than a year ago, but still primary, and needs more cellar time to show all its hidden nuances. …

White House Dinner (Their House, Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong) : Bright black-red cherry colour which is translucent but deeply opaque at the core. Nose is beautiful violets and roses, super lifted nail varnish, tar, rose petals.....very complex but still quite closed. The All-Pro linebacker of Barolo wines. The typicity comes through, with hours in the decanter, but as expected, the wine leaves no room for subtleties. The pronounced aromas and flavors are bright, ripe and most of all, inviting. Something of a guilty pleasure for me as I prefer more traditionally styled Barolo, but guests raved and, of course, asked if I had more. I offered no comment. Should continue to develop for another decade and drink very well for another …

Ready to drink now with a short decant. Classy and smooth, with the Nebbiolo tannins all there but under control. Obviously well made. Would score this higher with a little more fruit and a little less oak, but I guess that's the preferred style these days.

Another huge wine tonight! So full-bodied and young, hard to access at this point. On the nose there is typical Piedmont acetone, cherry liqueur, a little alcohol heat, balsamico and mushrooms. The palate is big, actually huge, dense, full and dark fruited, with big tannins, almost heavy right now, but there is still structure. Super long on the big full finish. A few hours prior to serving the nose was dominated by gorgeous floral notes, rose peddles & violets. The first glass @ dinner showed less floral notes and more dark red fruit & smoke. Not decanted, just a couple of hours of slow oxidation. Bright ruby red. Intense and classy nose of cherry and strawberry. Tertiary notes just starting to develop, elegant fruit. Mouth: full bodied, appealing acidity and tannins very elegantly matching a sort of sweetness of the palate. Some residual oak but not disturbing at all. Very intense in the mouth. Endless finish. slow O'd for 6 hours then double decanted before bringing to Jeff's house. Very different than the last bottle. Nice fruit on the nose but also a bit of varnish (VA?). Slow Oxidized for four hours, then tasted through the day. This was my first Voerzio wine and I was excited based on what I had heard about his style. Darker red then I expect in Barolo, but well within reason. An amazing nose of mixed fruits dominated by dark cherries, plus strong anise notes, and rose petals. Such a perfume! Dark red, looks almost glowing. Massive nose of dark berries, figs, christmas spices and smoke. In the mouth this is very concentrated, almost oily, yet intense and long.
