Haliotide Wines Pinot Noir Extra Brut Rosé Topotero Vineyard

Poured light pink in the glass, beautiful color. Small bubbles, but in my few glasses, not many, nor continual. Bright strawberry on the nose, and really on the palate as well. Slight yeast, but mostly red fruit. Maybe lacks a bit of depth with the low dosage, but delicious, and much more approachable this year, than in 2022 when I last had one of these. A great and fun producer to follow.

Very nice depth of character here. Gentle berries and grapefruit on the nose. Fine mousse, and on the palate I get strawberry, definitely more grapefruit, and a yeasty complexity that develops with time in the glass. The only downside is that the bottle practically exploded when I opened the wire cage - didn't even touch the cork! Half the bottle went with it. Chalk it up to inexperience opening these things, I guess.

Really pure. Benefited from an hour's decant. Straight grapefruit, slight herbal, saline?, notes initially. Really zippy acidity. After about an hour shows nice yeasty aromas. Really fine mousse and really lengthy. Will benefit from cellaring for sure.

Beautiful, very pale pink in the glass and lots and lots of bubbles. Bubbles are long lasting, though maybe not quite as precise as what I would expect from champagne. Nose of bright, fresh cut strawberry. It is an extra brut, and it is not overly sweet on the palate, but it is not overly dry either. There is a touch of red fruit sweetness, and high acidity. A bright strawberry note, herbal & floral aromatics - in particular fennel, and finishing up the palate with a mineral note that I’m guessing will integrate and make a very enjoyable wine more interesting. We love the idea of more producers in CA making truly interesting and worthy sparkling wines. These guys enter the conversation. A touch behind the very best, but room to grow and a nice start. Will follow with interest.

Tried a bottle just hours after delivery. Notes of strawberry, ocean breeze, and fruit pit. Extremely high acid with intense bubbles. Very light on its feet and hoping the body fills in with more time in the bottle. Comes across as far too young right now, give it time! Plenty of upside potential for Haliotide if this is only the second release.
