Very deep and dark ruby red color with some translucency. Very sweet and heady nose with rich aromas of cooked strawberries, very ripe forest fruits, some cloudberry jam and a hint of cherry marmalade. Pinot Wars: Giant Steps vs. Rippon (The Flying Winemaker, Hong Kong) : My least favourite wine of the evening. However, it did have a beautiful perfume - cherry and maybe some floral notes (blossom of some kind?). However, on the palate, a little dull by comparison to those before and certainly not as much drive on the finish.

Pinot Wars: Giant Steps vs. Rippon (The Flying Winemaker, Hong Kong) : Darker and more substantial than the 2012 that it was served alongside. A warmer vintage. Plenty of spice to accompany the red fruit (Liquorice perhaps?).

Red/grey purple colour. Smoke, spice, dark cherry, plum, along with a hint of red fruits and chocolate. Intriguing and complex in a positive way - lots of secondary aromas and flavours going on. Lacks a bit of length and liveliness on the palate but that's being picky. Very good.
