Tasted the 2011 La Truffiere, Combettes and Champ-Canet next to each other. For me, the Truffiere took the win here, showing the most mineral and chalky, combined with beurre noisette, unripe pineapple, peach and the highest acidity of the three. The Combettes was viewed by most as the more complete wine, with more power than the Truffiere, creamier, but for me also a slightly shorter finish. The Champ-Canet showed more developed, really on the nutty oxidative side with bruised apple.

**See previous notes. What a banger for probably the last sunny deck day here in Vancouver. LOVE this wine, but I feel its peaked. My last bottle was better. This was showing a little thin and the intensity has dissipated. Still wonderful. Drink up now if you have any.

Wow, what a lovely wine. It needed a few minutes, then it nearly stunned me. It started with a pretty pale yellow gold color. The aromatics were wet stones, white stones, stone fruit, and lightly of flower petals. The first sip really pulled me in. It was pure and energetic, stone fruit, lemony citrus and slight peel essence. It had a long swallow, powerful and weightless. Highly recommended. At 14 this baby has plenty of more years.

Pale yellow in color. Takes about 30 mins in glass to reveal some CLR, buttered popcorn, yellow citrus oils and candied ginger. A beautiful and intense palate shows good depth to the sweet-sour creamy citrus, ginger-lemon candy, very good acidity and a long intense and saline finish. Superb.

This 2011 was open and ready for business, no sour green acids, no ladybug bitterness, this was fleshy and round with hazelnutty aged luxurious edge, well composed, balanced, ending with pronounced minerality that I expect in Chevalier, yet an almost boring balance overall, intensity is just a shade understated, tough next to 2014 Ramonet Caillerets because they're both so good but this had class and nobility written all over it.

Medium yellow in color. Initially reductive which quickly blows away to showcase superb aromas of yellow citrus oils, lemon curd, peaches, hint of melted butter and dried florals. Concentrated and palate staining flavors of yellow citrus and orchard pit fruits, saline notes, very good acidity and a very long, powerful finish. Superb.

Light to medium yellow in color. Initially reductive on the nose which over time reveals gorgeous aromas of white stone fruits, lemon zest, yellow flowers and herbs. Intense and creamy at the same time, the palate shows citrus poached stone fruits buttressed by excellent acidity, energetic saline notes and a very long mineral laden finish. Excellent!

Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Osteria Langhe, Chicago IL) : There is always a bit of trepidation when an older Henri Boillot is in front of me. It has had a bad reputation, and I've had a few oxidized bottles too. White flowers, honey, lemon zest, and hints of flint and wet stone on the nose. Quite the journey this wine took. Started off a bit light ten minutes after opening with reserved acid. Lime, honey suckle, and pure minerality and sea salt on the palate. Acid started coming on after an hour and a half. Finish lasts forever.

Nick A's Burgundy Series, 2011 Edition, kids table : Wonderful nose. Some discussion of reduction at the table - yes perhaps a hint, but blows off. Clean and linear, some lovely citrus hints but it's also relaxed in its skin. This is what white burgundy is supposed to be about.

Nick A's 2011 Burgundy Horizontal (Table 2) (Noizé, London) : Love this. On pouring there is a modicum of reduction but this soon clears to reveal some lemon barley water, a touch of smoke and some hazelnut on an intriguing nose. With time some some pomegranate husk. Palate is fresh and beautifully acidic. A lick of lime oil caresses the palate a full 15 seconds after swallowing.

Nick's 2011 Burgundies (Noizé) : Strongly reductive nose which dissipates after about 20 minutes. Lovely sharp citrus, lime, and apple peel. Opens up with time, becomes more giving, but it is still a very linear wine, clean and precise with a lengthy finish. Very classy indeed. It’s when you drink white wine like this that you realise that most of what you normally drink is just a cheap imitation. A real treat!

One of the best white Burgundies I've drank in years! Poured medium golden in the glass. Blasts off with primary fruit right from the get-go - loads of sweet citrus, freshly picked nectarines, that pineapple that's been sitting on your counter for a few days (but not too long). Corked. Cork was completely soaked and wine had leaked out into the cap. Smelt like wet dog the first 10 minutes but started to show the quality that could have been.

This is absolutely in the zone. The perfect amount of struck match greets the nose along with pure white peach and lemon fruits. The palate is direct and linear. There's a sheath of unctuous and sappy orchard fruits wrapped around a high-tensile mineral spine. It finishes with excellent cut and drives on and on.

OK. I don't usually get overwhelmed when it comes to wine, but this bottle smashed it out of the park and is without a doubl my white wine of the year so far. Ripe and tart apple supplemented with floral and lemon peel. Good weight, better length. This continues to be an inconsistent wine. Bottle was a clear leaker, wet and slightly moldy under the capsule. While not the finest bottle of this wine I've ever tasted, this exceeded expectations give cork condition.

Light yellow in color. Complex aromas of yellow florals, crushed stone, buttered popcorn and yellow orchard pit fruits on the nose. The palate shows dense but focused beam of stone fruits, salty minerals, melted butter, very good acidity and a very long lip-smacking and tactile finish. Superb.

Light gold in color. Gorgeous aromas of yellow florals, herbs, citrus oils and summer orchard stone fruits. A simultaneously dense and tense palate that reveals ripe and juicy yellow citrus, herbs, saline minerals, excellent acidity and a very long and mouth coating finish. Damn this is excellent.

There are mildly exotic fruits mixing it up with some spearmint and vanilla. It is rich and layered with flavour. There are enticing cooler notes below the flesh and it has great balance and proportion. Certainly Grand Cru quality here.

Quite angular. Dry, tort, and a stubborn old dowager that didn’t release herself much in the glass. I am going to try another bottle and see if it was variation and then hold another year. Not sure it will get better but its zesty crispness means it scores well and so well put together it wouldn’t surprise if some of the tension produced a little more future creaminess. Not as rich as the Combettes 13 from same producer.

With K&O, socially distanced wine on our patio...slight chill, PnP, drank over 45 minutes. Medium green tinged gold. Nose showing lemon/citrus, saline. Opened, poured to shoulder height and let breath in the cellar one hour. Delicious pairing with live Maine lobster. Rich, layered with just enough citrus to cut through the butter sauce. Wow.

A very good white Burgundy near or at it's peak. Drunk with crab cakes and the minerality and acidic elements of the wine made it a perfect accompaniment to the food. Burgundy and Rhone : Flint, graphite, smoke and pomegranate - definitely on the reductive side but there is still interest. The palate explodes with power, the fruit bursts forward, but there is still structure through the acidity. Really shining tonight.

Impressions from a weekend in Napa Valley Day 2 (Napa Valley) : this wine is freaking stellar right now. Boillot killed it in 2011. The wine is just filled with layers of sweet ripe white fruit and big bodied and long on the palate. Intense flavors just run throughout and the lingering acidity just really pulls along all the flavor into the finish.
