Tasted at winery. This is more closed than some time ago. Balance, expression and complexity are missing now. These things will come back. I will wait to drink mine.

Drank at winery. Complex. Dried fruit, leather, fresh fruit. Does not seem Bordeaux like. Still fresh. Most interesting.

Had 19 some days ago which was quite closed. 14 was incredible. High aromatic complexity. 14 was said to be so difficult. But many wines took some time to develop. This was great, good finish and has got all what wine should be about. Joy.

Incredible. This is starting to take off!! Complex aromatics:, pepper, herbs, dark and red fruit, plums. Wow. This is great. At first not as bold in the mouth. After a 30 min decant this is changing. Quite tannic. Ripe. Great grip and structure. Acidity balanced by extract. Good poise. Stays long after the bottle has been finished.

8 decades tasting. For me one of the wines of the evening. But I am a bit biased. Some associated its origin to Australia. Hot year in Bordeaux. Lost its abundant fruit aromas. Still fruity. More complex than some years ago. Slowly enters its tertiary stage. Combines balance and structure. Everything is integrated. Was great with duck, sweet potatoes and fried radicchio in clementine sauce. Popped and poured.

First tried from barrel and then in 2021. Could not compete with 2010. Has now developed more structure and enlarged its aroma spectrum. Still reflects the vintage but has gained more weight and character. Seems to start to come of age. Good.

Oxidised. Has been a gorgeous wine. Intense and complex right from the cask and up to three years ago. Bought this bottle from a friend. Warm cellar? Have to try some of mine.

A good wine for a difficult vintage. Lacking aromas and structure to be really convincing like 2010 or 2016.

Amangiri trip for friends 40th. Searching for value was not easy on this menu. The wine menu leaves much to be desired. i.e. Blackberry Farms Landed on this bottling which I was not familiar with but with the help of our friends on CT this seemed like a relative bargain compared to house names. At $450 on the menu it delivered what we wanted from a vintage and terror perspective. Very young but tons of potential with proper cellaring. I'm …

Tasting TDLM means satisfying great expectations. Every vintage however has been quite unique. Do not expect a set scheme. In 2016 there is a deep red with a dark core. Aromas are not explosive as in 2010. There is dark fruit and chocolate. Slightly perceptible acidity which gives the wine complexity. Tannins are perfectly ripe and smooth. There is power and 14,5 vol. but this feels neither heavy nor fat. After 2 hours the wine developes more structure and grip …

serious wine with a nice balance of acidity and depth of fruit - may well improve - great value

Bordeaux 2016 III : My third encounter with a few wines from the much lauded 2016 vintage. My conclusions hold true: It's a deep, fine, fresh, classic vintage, one or two steps ahead of the 2015 vintage, in my opinion. While there is a lot of praise for the 2018 vintage already including some critics with on average higher scores than in 2016, I believe that in the long-run, the 2016 vintage will proof to be the superior one. This …

Gerstl Bordeaux 2016 Arrivage : Third Bordeaux 2016 Arrivage event, this time hosted by Gerstl. Of the wines I had not tasted before, Cos d'Estournel came in strong with a score of 97 while Tertre de la Mouleyre came in last (92) with the others all tightly scattered around 95. My previous impression of not only fantastic but also early accessible vintage were confirmed. Over all three tastings, my top scoring 2016s remain Figeac (2x), Léoville Las Cases and Yquem …
