1+ hour airing; dark purple color with slow legs. Aroma of plum and some somewhat muted grass. On the tongue, black currant, blackberry and a bit of plum. Slightly harsh finish; the biggest drawback to an otherwise solid malbec (Edit: after a second taste a couple days later the tannins mellowed and much sweeter on the tongue. If you open this I rec a very long decant and lots of swirls !

Bought this as an everyday drinker but tucked it away for a few years and it was more refined. Good solid wine.

Great value Lujan de Uco, Mendoza, 2019 Trivento Malbec Golden Reserve ($18 Total Wine). Dark garnet, viscous (14.0 alc.); peppery, black fruit, ripe grape, licorice and oak nose; mid acids; softening tannins; good fruit; balanced; long berry and wood finish. 16.5 UC Davis scale, 91 other scales.

Tobacco on nose. Deep red color. Subtle. Acidic right away and stays to finish. Fruit fades quickly but acidity remains. Tannins stay until the end. Lighter. Cherry, pepper, oak, settles to plumb and dark fruit. Most notably it is tart. Should be a much more expensive wine.

Boldness of a cab. Beautiful aroma, nice perfume and fruit forward to balance it out. Enjoyed half one evening and the second half the following day with pizza. Both tasted amazing. Surprising find and quality given the price. Would enjoy and purchase again.

Blackberries, black currant, plum, tobacco, earthy and oak on the nose. Fruity and balanced in the mouth. Nice long aftertaste. Very good for the price.

Light for a Malbec; almost closer to a Pinot Noir. Neutral recommendation. Ok but would not necessarily repurchase either

Very deep colour. Good nose with coffee and almost perfumed notes. Deep rich fruit - damson prominent - with ‘meaty’ character and with inky, tobacco flavours on nose and palate at first. Plenty of damson acidity and tannin which persisted on the end palate, indeed the final taste for me was acidity and tannin and was short on fruit. Next day, the wine was better (and certainly better with food). There was some ‘brambly’ character to the fruit but some …

Color: Medium ruby. Nose: Very expressive. Red berries and cherries. Mouth: Very pure and expressive fruit. Pomegranate, too. Very harmonious. Excellent length. The finely grained tannins give an almost inky mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied. Would be perfect with steak.

Retail $20. I am pretty sure this is 100% Malbec, but could not confirm. A heavier bottle than this needs to be, for sure. Trivento makes a slew of Golden Reserves and while I am not entirely certain what it takes to achieve that designation, I am pretty sure that this is the first Malbec I have tried. Very nice. Fairly dark in the glass with black pepper, cassis, plum. On the fruity side on the palate, particularly after a …
