Beautiful translucent dark ruby color from age. Blend of red and dark fruit in the nose with some gaminess and leather. Balanced acidity, smooth, full / sticky, woody and jam on the palate. Nice finish to draw everything out. CdP doesn’t get much better. Did not need to decant

Had this next to the 2010, which should be a bigger vintage, but it just shows how big a difference 10 years does. notes of blueberries, game, tar, plums. mellow tannins, still quite fresh, herbs, pleasent much more enjoyable compared to the 2010, which was darker, more clased and was more harsh. Will hold but at peak.

drank it next to 10. I prefer 00. More refined, it still took time to open up, got game, and bit of it will get better with more age.

pristine cork, still firm & waxy with only a little seepage near top. dark ruby, with only very slight bricking. Definite maturity on the nose and entry but still lots of primary fruit. As it opened up, the fruit came to the fore. Finish and texture almost reminiscent of a hefty (say Oregonian) pinot. Long, clean finish

The epic cookout (LP) : Double magnum. This is in a really good spot today, finely balanced between juicy plummy fruit and a softening and silky palate. Classic bouquet with sweet plums, raisins, sadle, savory fat and cedar. Palate very fresh, due to large format, and also very nuanced and silky - showing great!

Versus the earlier bottle this was just not as good - fine but not as the sense of dynamism.

This was a stunning bottle. Note written the next day, and things are a bit foggy from last night. It was deep and rich, a bit darker and meatier than the 04 Pegau it was drunk next to. I suspect the syrah component is greater in this wine. Tannins seemed fully resolved, acidity was in balance. This wine had a long amazing finish and was a real pleasure to drink now. It's one of my favorite bottles of CdP I …

Essence of Beaucastel. A ripe iteration, but the unmistakable tree bark and hung game notes are incredibly expressive at the moment. Classic French wild thyme and dried age character. Dark chocolate, dried porcini, and cow dung. At 25, this is clearly showing the transparency to the soil, that John Gillman talks about. Not a trace if ixifdation in this bottle. This may be at its peak, but based on tonight’s showing it is not yet fully resolved. Bottles in this …

Decanted, nice brick color. Nose: prunes, honey, leather, pepper, licorice. Palate: prunes, red dried fruit, leather, cranberries, minerals, nice acidity, smooth, medium body, complex and enjoyable.

Lui aurait donné 88 pts. Mais à lire les commentaires des dernières personnes qui l ont dégusté, c est probablement une mauvaise bouteille. Décevant pour un Beaucastel.

Amazing fruit still on this wine. Good acid. In a great place and will not get better.

funny enough, we had this as our desert wine and the jammy notes everyone mentioned worked perfectly. we had this in a 375ml, so the aging was more pronounced and we caught lavender, dried rose along with the cooked fruits and it was excellent. had to double decant due to sediment, but was clear otherwise with rim variation and medium viscosity.

I was a little disappointed in this wine. Showed just a bit of a stewy character on the palate and its length seem a bit shorter than I have seen in the past with other Beaucastel wines.

Stunning CdP by the best. This vintage is holding up its end of the bargain. Big powerhouse of a wine. Loads of jammy fruits, chocolate and raisins. Hint of dried fig. My only complaint was it has a very full mouth feel. I guess a few more years in the bottle might take down the density a bit.

One of if not the finest Beaucastel vintage I’ve tasted so far, in such a great spot I couldnt believe its 25 years old. Classical blend of 13 varietals, aged for 12 months in large foudres. Medium+ intensity complex aroma of plums, dried strawberries, cold cuts, spices, fried bacon, leather, chocolate, roasted garrigue. Medium+ body, silky and savoury, powerful yet elegant with envious 13.5% abv, meaty, fatty and smoky red fruits with spices and chocolate on top with medium fine …

This CdP strides in wearing a leather jacket, smelling of dried thyme, dusty trails, and a hint of a worn barn floor. Its colour hints at maturity but doesn’t feel the need to boast—subtle bricking, no big deal. The nose is classic La Garrigue, but it is delivered with the understated charm of someone who knows they’re interesting without saying a word. On the palate, this is not quite the friendly Châteauneuf-du-Pape that kisses babies and wins awards—it’s still throwing …

Bro R so generously provided the most aged bottle in our International Grenache Day themed dinner at Kingdom Palace, 3 Damansara. This had been bottle-breathed for 4 hours. I could only guess that this was a CdP and it was perhaps 2009 or 2010. Wow.. I was a decade off, it's a millennium wine! Ripe cherries with licorice and Mediterranean herbs as well. Savoury mid palate with blackberries on the medium-long finish. Light tannic bite remains but mostly resolved, and …

Nose of leather, figs, tobacco and a bit of barnyard funk. Tannins are mild with moderate acidity. Palate of stewed fruit and tobacco. Moderate length on finish

A coincidental vertical developed last night with an 05, an 07 and this 00. The 00 definitely had more barnyard going on and that might be the most notable difference. I liked the 05 a little bit more, and I would suggest time to drink up your 00s. Cheers!

LG4. Not a great nose but really lovely/complex on palate - tobacco, cloves, cinnamon, earth. Still a ton of acid in this wine. Has years to go. Went well with Bossam.

I have had considerable bottle variation with the 2000, but this bottle was very good. Decanted three hours. Fully mature fruit, quite light for Beaucastel but delicate and delicious. Best drunk at around 15/16 celsius.
