Tasted blind. I guessed Jura... Ripe apples, chalk, citrus, and slight oxidative notes on the nose. Great acidity with more orchard fruit and lots of minerals on the palate. Lingering, medium long finish. Quite tasty!

Honeyed citrus-nectarine, herbs/plants/twigs, stone; deliciously savory/moreish; terrific acidity, tart but integrated. Lingering stony minerality. Some nice fleshy texture while staying light in weight and highly drinkable. Cohesive, balanced, and just plain tasty. Seems to be aging quite gracefully (too bad this is my last bottle); light oxidized character but it is barely explicit and comes across as a pleasant savory honeyedness. Good stuff.

Full flavored. Slightly oxidative, in a pleasant way.

Alas, a bit oxidized by the time we opened it up, but still plenty mineral and acidic. With food, the oxidation was less apparent, but on its own it had a distinct cider-y note.

Needs a ton of air to come around. One it does its apples and acids and rocks.

Very chalky, quince fruit, complex, comes off as dry.

Tried a sample bottle of this wine to get a feel for the vigneron. Limpid, unusually light and graceful for a Touraine Chenin-based wine, really a fine touch, excellent mineral cut, showing that it is aptly named, sappy acids in balance with the wine's lithe overall weight and body. Very refreshing and an ideal spring evening wine to sip out by the grill while roasting chicken. Time in the decanter allows the wine to put on a small amount of …

Tasted blind. Intriguing savory caramelized nose, like caramelized onions but not onionlike. On the palate, big barely off dry citrus fruit, golden apple, plenty of acidity. Some herbaceousness. Delicious.

Blind Tasting - 2010 Loire Chenin Blanc (Weygandt Wines - Washington, DC) : Tasted Blind. Lightly oxidative aromas of baked orchard fruit, brown spice, and charred lemon. The focused palate is similarly styled, with lightly oxidative apples/pears, lemon, and dried flowers. The interesting, medium length finish features grapefruit zest, cinnamon, and anise. R&M88

Again this delivers. Intense on the first night, and a bit more relaxed by the third, it retained its awesome depth and bite. So good, and so hard to keep around.

I didn't manage to keep my hands off, and for that I'm glad. Open for business, very expressive, characteristic Loire chenin for days.

lean mean fighting machine of minerals and acidity but man, does it have depth.

Love it. Beezerbub hit it on the nose. Simultaneously fleshy and ripe, yet vivid acids and minerality (one reason Chenin is so awesome). And herbaciousness with the fruit, too. Buy it.

Hugely acidic and mineral, and at the same time generously fleshy - best of both worlds. Lime, nectarine, pear, golden delicious apple, honeysuckle, stone. Hints of fresh herbs and cheese rind. Big, clean acid. Fresh, pure, and very enjoyable.

I love what is coming out of Montlouis these days! This is just phenomenal! Rich and lush stone fruits, honeysuckle and floral on entry which finishes, as the name suggests, with a tight core of minerality. There is a wonderful weight on this wine and a mouth-tingling burst of fresh acidity. The '10 secs are really turning out to be remarkable wines (this is probably best characterized as a sec tendre as there is a hint of sweetness); a clearly …

OK, this bottle's open for business. It zings and zangs across the palate; chalk-infused heirloom orchard fruit quite unlike mass-market fruit. Poised, with great structure. Gotta keep my hands off the rest of my bottles...

Leaner than the 09 and just as intense, with a bit more cut. Will try not to drink these as quickly.

Tight and chalky, even after a few days open -- is this shutting down? Great structure, though. Excellent potential.

Light yellow. Remarkable contrast between fairly ripe Chenin fruit on the nose and entry, and a powerful, long mineral/quinine finish. This is really excellent and even more structured than the '09. Like a cross between Savennieres and Chablis and unlike any other Montlouis I've ever had.
