Random wines tasted during service (Oinoscent) : blind tasted, 30' decant Thick nose, ripe red fruit, earthy, whole spice, thick oak frame, pot pouri, feels old. Palate shows med body, dissolved tannins, black fruit, elevated acidity, lean, short finish, feels fully evolved, a bit sweet finish wtih a touch of bitterness too.

Red berry fruit but tertiary aromas of damp forest floor and some polished wood. The palate has rich berry baked fruit and spices with some tannic grip still present alongside bright acidity. It’s a food wine and I’m about to enjoy this with roast pork and roasted potatoes.

Drank at home. Didn't expect much due to highly questionable provenance of the wineshop I bought it from. The wine felt more developed that it should have been. The nose shows more earthy notes, sundried tomatoes, spicy and nutty notes but with a nice pure red and black fruit core. In the palate the wine feels fully developed. Its earthy, the wine shows medium body, the fruit is more on the overripe side with black fruit mostly, smooth tannins, medium …

Sweet raspberry juice and red cherry, earth and spice. The palate has firm tannins which are slightly drying, sappy red cherry, dusty, earthy textures. Good but needs more time.

Ruby with a slightly muted, red cherry nose. The palate has powerful, red cherry, red currant flavours with a lovely chilli, pepper, spicy hit. Tannins integrated, acidity still there to keep it fresh.

Danger ...

Drank leisurly at home. Needs about half an hour to breathe. Fully developed at this point showing earth, chocolate, coffee notes, gamey showing up after about an hour, the fruit is way in the back. The tannins have melted, balancing acidity, would be nice with food but could work on its own, med to long finish. Very tasty, sadly my last bottle of the "Earth and Sky" back vintage stock I had. In a nice place to drink now. 89+

Restaurant fare, from Axios in Denver. The nose and palate deliver cherry/strawberry and light earth tones framed in bright acidity that is well balanced with the firm tannins. An added element of chalk comes into play as well. A medium finish for this medium bodied wine makes this the best expression of Xinomavro I have had to date.

Dark cherry red color; aromatic, tart berry, dried berry, tar nose; silky textured, tight, tart berry, dried berry, tar, mineral palate with firm, sweet tannins; needs 6-plus years; long finish (18 months in French & Austrian large oak barrels; from 42 year old vines)

Not at all how I remembered it last year. Spirity and high toned, diffuse in flavour.

This is a nice wine. It respects the grape and even takes it in new directions in a harmonious way (vs Alpha Estate's modernist approach with Xino which seems in tension - and I like the wines.) Red fruit nose. Good grip upfront with strong shadows of the Xino raspy and taut character. Really expansive middle that dials into the herbal and perfume. Eases off too much on the finish. Still a very nice wine and a good twist.

Light red and translucent on the eye. Ripe red cherry fruit nose and this follows through on the palate. The flavour is fruity, intense, good acidity and long lasting. Top wine and new discovery for me.

Ruby. The nose is complex and alluring, intense red cherry fruit, perfume, burnt brush, dried herbs. When you taste the wine the first impression is intense red berries, cherry and cranberries which gives way to a savoury herbaceous notes which provides a lovely touch to the sweet red fruits. Tasted alongside the Jeaunes Vignes 2013 from the same producer, this is a huge step up but, to be fair to the younger wine, this wine is nearly twice the price. …

Interesting. Pale. Strawberry fruit. Rose-like fragrance. Lots of tannin. Some sweetness. I like this.

A much better show than when we came across it 3 months ago (Then rated 88). Opened and served. Fresh vibrant fruit in this young yet giving wine. Open nose, young red fruits intermix with a darker fruit side. In a way has that new world pinot (Not over ripe or over oaked at all here though) with that riper core of dark fruits. Pretty solid effort.91

Greek Chic - A fine wine tutored tasting with Demetri Walters MW (Berry Bros & Rudd, London) : Biodynamic production. Decent colour but not a very dark red , quite a bit of ripeness, lots of fresh fruit character, fragrant but also a bit alchoholic on the nose. Young good acidity. Has a nebbiolo side to it . Young but accessible but still with grippy tannin. Lacks a bit of length at this stage.88

18 mois d'élevage sous bois, en 500 litres. Acidité et alcool bien équilibrés, un vin riche et structuré, trop jeune encore mais il donne envie d'attendre.

A totally different wine this time. According to the winemaker, this will continue changing for at least another year before stabilizing. Medium ruby. Complex nose with red and darker cherries, strawberry, currants and subtle oak. Medium-bodied with firm but fine-grained tannins and medium acidity. Long aftertaste. A modern fruit-forward xinomavro.

Blind tasted at oinoscent. Medium ruby. Ripe red and dark fruit with herbal notes and cedar hints. Good fruit concentration. Quite fruit forward, especially against the two other xins tasted alongside. Medium body with round tasty tannins, soft i would say for a young xinomavro. Dark fruits in the palate, good balancing acidity and medium tasty finish. Balance and finesse for this newgen xinomavro which drinks well at the moment.

A totally atypical, ultra-modern and fruit-forward version of xinomavro that is already pleasent and enjoyable. Intense strawberry, cinnamon and floral nuances. On the palate it is medium-bodied with freshness, very soft tannins and lively acidity. Satisfying aftertaste. Very pleasent wine but not for xinomavro fans.
