After the Va Piano, this was was a much differed style. Very Bordeaux-like in that the aromatics reflected wet leaves, wet mulch, some smelly sewage. It was decanted and eventually settled down. Good complexity with dark smokey berries, some vanilla oak, red currant, cocoa, leafy tobacco, and charred earth, the blend seems to be Merlot dominated; however, there’s structure that may support another 1-2 years of enjoyment.

Had over a couple of nights and it opened up a bit, but was pretty much the same. New world Bordeaux-y with up front oak, but not too cloying. Nice ripe fruit to go against a steak. About right for the price, I suppose.

Overall still good, but not nearly as good as previous bottles. A little more muddied on the palate with hints of leather and the occasional whiff of wet dog on the nose.

Deep garnet red. Dark cocoa on the nose with dusty notes. Some candied fruits too. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Dark cocoa, earthiness, and dark berries. Medium to medium plus finish. Drink till 2019.

Decanted and enjoyed over two days with food both days. Decent on the first day, but it really hit its stride on day two. Still relatively young in appearance, structure, and flavor, with an excellent mix of black and red fruits. For an 11 year old wine this has fared very well. Great QPR at under $20, as this drinks well beyond its price range. Still enough tannin and acidity to easily support another 3-5 years in he cellar. Kudos …

Pop and pour. No formal notes. Overall enjoyable. More tannic and acidic than I expected. Improved with 30-60 minutes of air.

Pop & pour. This is probably drinking at peak now. Very rich, typical Walla Walla blend. I get a lot of alcohol on the nose. Flavor-wise, there is very little fruit showing, quite high acidity and fairly high tannin. Flavors of red raspberry and cranberry, tobacco, with a tart cranberry finish shrouded in vanilla. Drink now - 2020+.

Garnet red. Nose kept changing and adding layers. Some cassis that dissipates quickly. Sour cherries, forest floor, cinnamon, truffles, mushrooms, and damp leaves. Seems a lot older than it is. Moderate tannins (6/10) and medium plus body. Lots of red fruits on the attack of the palate, damp leaves and a little savory with some meaty and dirty notes. Decently long finish with some slight heat in the finish. Drink till 2019.

Decent wine. OK QPR. Nice to get some aged wine at this price point and no big obvious flaws, just not really interesting. Fruit is a bit thin and pepper a bit heavy; terroir is lacking and even with the age we're not seeing a great deal of forest floor or barnyard hues. I think this is very good at $40, for $20? Out of the park! I wouldn't risk holding for long term cellaring, drinking great now. I've never had a single 100 pt (professionally reviewed) wine, let alone many, so I don't like scoring myself. But I have had a lot of 80-96 pointers, I don't see how this would be less than 91 on just about any scale.

A bit underwhelming given the hyperbole, the most notable attribute was some buttery diacetyl. Well rounded with the age, typical WA BDX blend, a good bargain for the aged but not a wow wine worth saving for anything special.

I tasted this wine in a large tasting. Did not take notes. I found it very typical of Washington Bordeaux blends with savory, dark fruits and tannins. I felt the alcohol was too evident from the nose to the finish. I will pass on any more

"More aromatic" than the '05 indeed, but unfortunately what this translated to is more candied, ripe fruit sweetness. Crowd-pleasing for sure, but not for me. 14.5% ABV.
