Just drank this 11/19/11 and it held up surprisingly well compared to the 2 other '98s we tasted it agains (Sinskey and Raymond Generations).

Beautiful aromatic nose of dried leaves, cassis and boysenberry notes with sweet cigar; rich, smooth body, sweet dark berry fruit core, a touch herbal/medicinal, but nicely balanced and drinking very well with just a touch of age and plum notes.

Drank over the course of 1.5 hours. Clearly could have benefitted from a longer decant, nevertheless was good . Although, the amazing fruit I have experienced in the 01's and 0'2s was a little too muted here leaving a somewhat flat but balanced wine.

Drank on 43rd bday. Initially dissappointing, little fruit, out of balance, despite 90 mins of decanting. Bummer. But wine really opened up and changed gears as it neared the 3 hr mark. Fruit appeared and the whole profile smoothed out impressively. At the end it was singing and the wife was agreeing. The wine was not tired at this point, but I don't think you will see any further benefit from continued aging. Open it up, give it lots of …

Fruit was pretty much gone and has moved into those tea like flavors but certainly pleasant. Was actually quite good with my meal.

Popped and decated for 20 minutes. Nice mouthfeel but the fruit is mostly gone. An enjoyable wine with a grilled steak dinner. Over the following hour, the wine did open up.

11/03 medium-bodied soft berry attack smooth mid-palate and subtle finish soft on structure - began to open up on the finish after about 2-3 hours decanting - simple - drinkable now - there are better values. 2/07 re-tasted - ready now - black cherry - anise - aged long-lasting finish. Killer - a sleeper of the vintage - worth its price now - 93 pts.

I've been drinking this wine since release. I think it's becoming a bit long in the tooth - the fruit is almost gone.

Knl Tasting. Very nice mature wine. Very nice fruit, with signifigant but not overpowering tannins. Mature, and probably drinking at its peak. However, a great example of how an "off" vintage depends more on the style of wine you like. This wine was more elegant, with nothing flashy, an older gentleman.

<Sturman Tasting> Tasted Blind. Cherry, Blackberry and some green and herbaciousness on the nose. Medium bodied -- (too light in style for a Cab?). Nice cherry flavors initially but turned a little green and tart on the midpalate and lingered through the finish. LONG finish. After a few hours of air, the wine completely fell down. All Fruit gone, finishes abruptly. All that was left were the green and tart flavors -- unattractive. My score is heavily weighted to the …
