Still very alive, actually without lots of ripeness notes. Tannins present a good grip and together with all the super dark fruit it is the right buddy to any kind of (red)wine-friendly food.

Auge: Klares, dunkles rubinrot Nase: Sauber. Intensive Aromen von Cassis, Brombeere, Schokolade, Tomatenblätter. Erste Reifenoten Gaumen: Trocken, mittel (+) Säure, Alkohol 14.5%, hohes Tannin, mittel (+) Körper mit mittleren Aromen von Brombeere und Cassis, langer Abgang (BLIK 1+1+0.75+0.5=3.25) Sehr gute Qualität. Wein hat immer noch eine straffe Tanninstruktur und muss deshalb unbedingt dekantiert werden. Schön in Balance, deutliche Noten von dunklen Beeren und fleischigem Körper. Kann getrunken werden hat noch 2-3 Jahre Reife- und weitere 5 Jahre Lagerpotential.

Drinking nicely now. Tannins are more polished. Still lots of dark fruit and smoke. Some hint of bitterness in the finish. I haven’t tried older madiran but I think I will wait a couple of more years just to see what happens.

Nose: Vanilla, soft sweet fruit. Palate: Balanced entry, sour fruit. Mid-palate is a bit hollow with fine but a slightly sandy tannins. Not much on the aftertaste. What is there is nice, but there is not enough of it.

Really like it! Interesting and complex nose for the price. Lovely balanced mix of leather, oak, pepper, plum, game and barnyard. Still young and fresh with moderately high acidity and tannins that are more polished now. Medium finish. Can be cellared several more years.

Beaucoup de puissance. On sent un côté fumé, mêlé au travers du fruits encore bien présent. Excellent équilibre entre l'acidité et les tanins. Demeure très agréable et complet. On sent une petite touche florale probablement amené par le cabernet franc (pétale de rose séchée). Pour le prix, c'est excellent. On excellent achat pour la cave.

Dunkles Bordeauxrot, violette Reflexe. Sehr kräftige Nase, sauber, noch etwas vom Holz geprägt, dunkle Beeren, vor allem Brombeeren aber auch etwas Cassis und eine schöne Würze, gute Komplexität. Sehr sauberer, präziser Auftakt, herrlich frische, knackige Frucht, wieder Brombeeren, dazu etwas weisser Pfeffer, das Holz sehr gut eingebunden, die Gerbstoffe fein und reif, dazu eine sehr gute Säure, gute Komplexität und Länge. Tha faintest little taint of tca, blew off but still. I think this was underperforming relative to expectations. Not tired though, the fruit is still there - and rather berry-driven. As this comes across as a little too generic right now i am going to hold remaining 2 btls - min. 5 yrs.

Smoothed out nicely this still has a dark and brooding character, a touch of funk and forest while getting close to elegent. Some salty black olive and other intriguing complexities too.

Much better than the Cuvee Prestige previously from the same vintage, not overly green or bretty. Traditional winemaking with the structure and tannins to last forever, but the dark fruit is rather soft now even though it is still a muscular wine. Not going to improve from here.

1993 vintage

Drank the same vintage about five years ago and this is a great example of successful storage of a not too expensive wine. Tannins have become velvety, fruit is more welcoming. Aromas much more intense with pencil lead, black tea and the dark fruit not even near overripe.

This wine has really (finally) broadened out and smoothed it’s rough edges. Not at all like the wine I commented on 5 years ago. Still cool, firm, and mineral driven. Lots of graphite. The fruit is tight and black. But now perfect with a fatty rib-eye. At peak and will likely sing for 3 years.

Very oaky upon opening. Blew off after 1hr decant. There are signs of aging here, palate felt like the aged notes were the core with the fruit and acid placed on top. Tannin integrated. Typical Bouscassé although perhaps not the best vintage? Beginning of drinking window but plenty fruit still so dont rush it. Next bottle by 2023 ca.

An improvement on when I drank it in 2019. Has powerful aromas of polish, leather, gravel, blackberries, menthol, bricks, loganberries and cherries. Its chewy medium bodied nicely powerful well oaked and sculpted black and red fruits palate has refreshing acidity. Ends longish, and a bit dry. A food wine. Lay down 5 years+. Needs 5-6 hrs aeration+. 14.5%. Improves and smoothes out on days two and three.

Bien bon, pas prêt d’être a son peak. Encore beaucoup d’astringente et de tanins. Peu vieillir encore.

I had drunk two bottles of this vintage a few years ago, and that time I felt that it was rather rustic. After a few years, it has mellowed a lot and drinks beautifully right now.

Really delicious and classically styled Madiran. The tannins are still present and thick but smoothing out into a blanket. Robust flavors of earth, herbs, roasted pepper, dark fruits. Extremely long finish. I think this is drinking really ideally right now.
