Cherry, raspberry, cranberry, hints of cumin and sous bois; fruitful, penetrating, lovely nose Pure and expansive, fruitful and elegant, showing depth and maturity and some age but still vibrant and pleasing; rich and mouth-coating almost with faint hints of chocolate on the close; quite delightful After 1.5 Hours: More integrated on nose and palate but mostly similar; succulent yet distinguished, really lovely

Surprisingly very, very good. Fairly expressive and multi-dimensional, not just a simple wine. Camus isn't the most highly-regarded producer and I've had other older bottles of this that weren't this good, but on this particular night, the 1985 was showing quite well. Certainly not in the same category of Rousseau, but if you're craving older Burg at a good price, this is a great deal. Reminded me of an old Lopez de Heredia gran reserva.

Tasted at a La Paulee Lunch. From Magnum. Medium brownish garnet. Expressive nose of mushroom, tobacco and gingerbread, nice and complex. Good mid palate presence with fully dissolved tannins. Earthy finish.

Stunning. Some funk on the nose but on the palate it's sheer velvet, crushed raspberries and spice.

Great depth, fully developed, a wonderful pairing with L'Edel de Claron, Boucheron and Morbier.

1985 Burgundy Tasting and Dinner (Domaine Storage - Chicago IL) : Massive dense fruit with big spice and pepper. Not classic Gevrey Grand Cru, very black almost Syrah-like. Lots of spice on finish. Quite tasty, but I certainly would never guess Gevrey if tasted blind.

Explosive nose. Smoky on the palate with tons of complexity. Superb.

Dan T. very generously brought this over. We popped and poured. Initially, the main impression is of rust and forest floor, with some bottle sweetness. Takes about twenty minutes, and then the red fruit at the core starts to emerge, along with spices, forest floor, sois bois, which all seem to come to the palate in subtle advances and then run away only to come back again in a few minutes. Likewise, there seemed to be alternating waves of warm …

In the glass deep ruby with the faintest of amber at the edge - The nose revealed cherry, sandelwood, forest floor and a faint barnyard funk which blew off in less than five minutes - In the mouth a wine of roundness and almost port like depth revealing dark cherry and spice with a long finish - This bottle was Grand Cru

This is the third bottle of the case in the last two months and all have been different - Very spice filled nose followed by cherry - then alcohol and cat pee - In the mouth a roundness and good cherry flavor and a delicate sweetness - this bottle was not as gracious on the finish as the prior ones - Not Grand Cru!!!!!!
