Conti Sertoli Salis Valtellina Superiore - Grumello

Great red cherry berry fruits, beautiful earth and a touch of barnyardy funk. High acidity gives this a great food friendliness. Just a hint of Brett gives some nice complexity without being considered a fault. Some excellent value here!

Adding to my last note: I decided this was a great value opportunity and bought a case. Very nice floral notes on the nose and palate, combined with a very food-worthy acidity and balance of flavor make this a great every day red.

Fruity, yet dry, clarity. Very nice (decanted two hours before serving).

Light body. Easy drinking. Reminds me of Pinot noir. Nice to drink without food.

Interesting blend (nebbiolo, merlot, pinot noir, rossola, brugnola). Tasted pretty good out of the bottle, but became harsher and less pleasant as it took on air. I'm less inclined to be adventurous after trying this. Even at the nice price point, I would probably rather buy a decent Rioja.

Opened several hours before drinking. Not bad--certainly not bad for the price. Nebbiolo fruit is a bit dusty and thin on the palate; was good with food.
