West of Temperance Sangiovese Eaglepoint Ranch

WoT focuses on Italian varieties and I have had a few of their Teroldegos in the past. This was a great encounter - a little bit of Luxardo cherries and tertiary stuff like tea and leather. And reverse engineered, I think this would probably have had some serious tannins young, but now just offers an elegant resolved hint of that. In a perfect spot for drinking, if you ask me.

Cherry, a little earth, black tea, and maybe a touch of Indian spice. Medium+ acidity. This wine took some time to open up and the longer it stayed open the more I got from it. Felt like this was developing into something more compelling than when I first opened it.

Decanted 1 hour. Found it sweet & simple. But I like Chianti, and this was much more fruity. A good bottle of wine, but not a re-buy for me. (Liked the Carignane more)

Lush, rich, but all in balance.

This is an impressive domestic Sangiovese. Bright, fresh red cherries, red plum skin, cocoa, and smoked tea leaf notes, with some sweet spice tones underneath. Really enjoyed this.
