Niepoort, Doda, Douro

Last bottle from a case. This has aged remarkably well – very fine tertiary cedar and truffle notes with delicate black fruit and still a hint of floral freshness. Some sweet roundness to balance the slightly drying tannins. Tastes much younger than 20 years.

Deep dark color. Red fruits, earth, spice, balsamic and floral aromas. A lot of fruits and mineral flavors on the palate. Integrated tannins, nice balanced structure and complexity. Good length. It's definately not a bad wine but to my taste a bit too rich and powerful.. It was paired with filet of horse with onions, paprika, and oven baked potatoes. Very good match.

Cherry on the nose. Large scaled, but soft and round compared to Niepoorts Duoro wines. More Dao than Duoro here? Good and balanced wine that will age well.

dark color, heavy aroma of a a dark-fruits bodily wine; at first sip the taste resembled a Veneto Ripasso with a unique spice. Goes well with sausage & aromatized cheese. long after taste.
