Colour starting to fade from red to a red/brick orange , nose of tar and leather. Good acidity, moderate sweetness, typical sangiovese flavours . This is for me at it's apex . It shows moderate length and slightly diluted flavours ...tending more to the earthy / tobacco side . An enjoyable food wine.

Decanted for only 15 minutes and that was enough for the wine to open. The color was a medium violet. There were notes of dark cherry, earth and a touch of herbal on the nose. The medium bodied palate showed less fruit, and more earth than previous bottles - to us, a sure sign of age and a call to drink these up. The acidity was juicy and all tannins were integrated.

Medium-bodied with a nice bit of structure. Fruit forward, strawberries on the nose. Some fresh leather also. Quite balanced on the palate -- tart cherries, strawberry, pomegranate, fig jam, and a bit of earthy undertone like tobacco.

This more a medium wine, the fruit was well balanced with medium tannins. For this price point good value and a good restaurant buy.

Absolutely beautiful wine, but fruit is still popping. Have one left and am going to sit on for a while to see how it develops from here.

What a great CCR. Cherries, blood oranges, and herbs are accented by dried roses, pastille, and sous bois. It's bright and chiseled, with a supple texture, attractive bottle age, and a hint of bitters that adds depth and complexity to the long, sandalwood finish.

Decanted for about 30 minutes and continued to open and darken (both color and fruit profile) for another 30 minutes or so. The nose presented dark red fruits, leather and herbs. The medium bodied palate showed the dark red fruit (dark cherry and cranberry), along with some tart cherry, earth and herbal notes. The acidity is juicy and vibrant but relatively balancing. This wine will probably hold for another couple of years but is beginning to show its age, and …

Excellent, drinking exceptionally well. Medium red in colour with a hint of orange the rim. Slight raspberry nose, loads of fruit flavours cherry, dark berries with slight tar /leather notes ,juicy, moderate tannins. A mouth full of flavour and sweetness giving this wine weight and length on the palate. Delicious

Quite good. I had other gold label Chiantis from Ruffino and didn't think that much of them. But this bottle delivered a lush blast of fruit softened by a well made base of leather, anise, and sour cherry. Not sweet thankfully, but definitely old world.

This was beautiful with my wagyu ribeye tonight. Bright acidity with some oak at first, but opened up to some secondary notes after about an hour. Well integrated and starting to show some age. Very smooth and lush. Decent QPR.

As good as, if not a tad better than our previous bottle in Dec. '20. Decanted for 45 minutes during which the wine opened and darkened. The color was a deep violet, to a faded rim. The nose impressed us with dark red fruits, along with touches of earth and cedar. The medium bodied palate showed the dark red fruit (dark cherry and cranberry), with earth and herbal notes, and just a touch of cedar. The acidity is juicy and …

Medium red in colour, slight tinge of orange on the rim of my glass, a bit of tar and fruit on the nose, a light weight wine but packed with fruit flavours and moderate tannins. This is drinking so well now , has great length and has more room for aging. Delicious!

Decanted for 30 minutes which allowed the wine to open - a bit longer is OK. On the nose there was red fruit, earth notes, herbs and cedar. The medium bodied palate showed the red fruit (cherry and cranberry), earth and herbal notes, and that touch of cedar. The acidity is juicy and vibrant, but became less noticeable as the meal progressed. There is still a touch of drying tannin on the finish. This wine will probably hold for at …

Red cherry and strawberry on the restrained nose, with a bit of spice and pepper. Medium-bodied palate shows more spice and red fruit, much more forward than the nose. Good acidity, with alcohol nicely balanced. Not overly complex, but very nice and smooth drinking.

80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon Medium to full body, mature ruby color. Intense but elegant aroma of black and red fruits, flowers, smoky wood and spices’ box. Complex palate of cherry blackberry and ripe plum complements by long, juicy finish. Delicate and silky and well balanced wine, completely integrated tannins and lovely acidity. Food friendly, tasted with ravioli in white mushrooms sauce and Pecorino cheese. Serve 16º - 18º. Open one hour ahead. Drink now and next couple …

Saturday was Italian dinner night with homemade farfalle pasta including Italian sausage and broccoli—and this 2012 Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale Oro. With Andrea Bocelli playing in the background this was a memorable meal and an outstanding wine. The Ruffino winery has gone through many changes since the year 2000—it is now owned by the American Constellation company, but it is still renowned for high quality Chianti Riservas. The Riserva Ducale “Oro” is only produced in top vintages and one …

Very clear uniform red color, opening up with forest floor, earthy notes, and leather encompassing a core of deep rich mature fruit. Surprisingly good. Hits my palate as a mature Chianti, so I'm not sure how many more years it's got. Paired with (of course) tomato basil pasta - wonderful!

Clear, light garnet to a watery rim showing faintly desiccated, mature red and dark fruit, cherry, plum, dried herb on the nose complemented by pronounced earthy, leather, tar. Confirmed on the palate the wine offers a soft entry with focused savory flavors confirming the nose; oak and alc well integrated; medium tannins, medium+ mouthwatering acid with a short finish; this is still a very good simple wine 86-89pts; drink what you have; this wine is peaking with tertiary flavors and …

Delicious and intense, pale orange color, heady aromas of tangerines, orange zest and hazlenuts. Great balance between sweet candied oranges, nutty components and racy acidity, lots of depth and length, finishing fresh and clean.
