Henri de Villamont Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes

This had a very funky scent to it when I first opened the bottle; even though it tasted fine I was worried something might be off. However, it blew off over the course of the evening and started drinking quite nicely. I would suggest a long decant.

My comment is I wish there was more of a statement made in the wine. The juice was good, but there were not the distinguishing qualities you find in burgundy where the terroir comes out and the winemaker takes a stance and creates something unique. It seemed like a conservative effort where risk was avoided and as a result the wine lacked something special.

Aromas and flavors of wild berry, strawberry, spice and mineral. Simple and easy going with silky with lots of acidity.
