Sour cherry, earth, celery. Lovely acidity. Fascinating color. Light and zippy.

This shows the classic tropical fruit marmalade flavors I usually get with Fajã dos Padres Malvasia. More on the fruity side than on the caramel side (this is, still quite young), but such great fruit. Fine, cleansing acidity.

Loving the freshness here. Bright with and expressive. Lovely character for such a young Madeira. Just enough sweetness to give it the body to play against the ample acidity. Holds up great over two weeks and a clear step up from the '07 single cask they sold around the same time. Should have bought more of this one.

Amber trending to brown in the glass. Dark currants, caramel and nuts on the nose. Great palate intensity with a burst of currant fruit. Lovely sweetness and acidity interplay. Very persistant on the finish.

Bastardo, Reserva Especial is F***ING fantastic! Nose of delicious caramel, yoghurt with maple syrup, stinging alcohol, beeswax, some smoke which leaves my mind enjoying this immensely. Palate reveals more caramel of maple syrup on top of cream, smoky notes of honey, citrus, mead, but over all I'm …

Medium dry style with flavours of nuts and toffee seasoned with spice and developing prune on the mid-palate through to a long finish. 92 pts

Dark honey amber. Aromas of orange rind, honey, caramel, cayenne, with a hint of white pepper. Rich semisweet salty fruit on the palate, full bodied and tangy, lovely winding long finish.
