Like last time, this is a bit of an enigma. Seems wrong for Luxembourg at first. Too ripe and fruity at first, even new world. But then suddenly it’s dry and tannic and cool climate. Tea again, fruity and darker fruits yes but something cool and European about it also, possible even the Rhône actually. Strange. Is this chaptalised or Enschberg really is a warm vineyard?

Coravin tasting. Followed a very good 2009 Pinot Nero from Aldo Adige, very rich and youthful. This seems so much lighter, cooler but with a very distinctive nose. Like pomegranate won’t some flowers. Nice but maybe a little basic in comparison to the italian, albeit that is 5 times the price! Maybe I take that back. The Lux is youthful but complex. Getting tea now. Very dry and tannic, needs food.

Coravin tasting. Maybe I was a little harsh last time. Pleasant, nice cherry fruit, gentle oak adding spice and complexity. Quite dry. Still doesn’t come across as authentic to me but good.

Coravin tasting. Lacking some authenticity. Lots of oak, darker colour and higher alcohol than you might expect from Lux - clearly chapatilised and lots of other work in the cellar. Shame I bought a case of 6.
