Very good and concentrated. Reminds me a bit of Pintia. Too young, check back in a few years.

2023 vintage

Decanted for 30 minutes. This bottle was definitely better than my last one in February. Ready to drink. 92 pts. at the moment.

2015 vintage

Made only from the two best vineyard parcels. Aged 21 months in new oak. On the nose, darker and riper fruit tones — black fruits, integrated oak, coffee, hints of dark chocolate. Fruit slightly behind the oak. On the palate, tannins are dense, acidity is strong, and concentration is higher. Long finish. Much more potential than the standard Aalto, but still too young to drink now. Requires aging.

2023 vintage

In a flight of old (over 20yrs) red wines. On the nose ample ripe dark fruit. Full bodied, smooth and supple showing plenty of ripe dark fruit with some oaky notes. Felt overall still very youthful and muscular compared to the other wines of about same age. Can hold for many years in the cellar.

Decanted for 1 hour. I had my last bottle of this vintage 7 years ago. Surprisingly, the wine felt a little lighter than I remembered. A good wine to drink, even if it's not terribly complex. I'm not sure if this was a represantative bottle. No rating.

Dark red; dark notes, dark berries, roasted coffee, prunes; powerful with good balance, licorice, some tannins; really quite nice and full of life after 19 years

PnP. Plum colored. Nose is black fruit, wet dirt, whiff of acetone. Palate is black fruit and a strong coffee aspect. Full-bodied, fairly long finish. Nice effort.

This Ribera del Duero drinks perfectly now. Still has some fruit and power of its youth but has gained complexity with some initial tertiary aromas. An amating acidity keeps pushing this wine alive through the journey over your palate. Exciting stuff with leathrr, tobacco, marzipan and dark fruit.

Great wine , still young so was even better several days after opening (kept half in a half bottle) so give it a long decant. Very full bodied, dark garnet plenty of dark fruit.

Dark fruit and spice. Noble oak, fancy cigars, damp earth and a musky, funky undertow lurking underneath. Rich, decadent and opulent. Or... structured, layered and distinguished. Exceptional balance. A step behind the legendary 01 but a magnificant wine nonetheless.

Marcello has it right. Blueberries, plush velvet. No decant required. Plush plus. Modern, ripe, cocoa and berries. Ready now. Key is temperature 18 degrees.... else it’s a bit hot. Great fun, but a tightrope of joy.

From magnum. I gave this wine a very high score last time I had the opportunity to taste it in 2016, but struggled a little at this occasion. There is good depth, layers of fruit, notes of spices, leather, tobacco on the nose. A little heavy, syrupy and unbalanced on the palate. Alcohol on the finish. Long. Drink or keep. 88-90

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Spanish Wine (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL) : Tasted double blind in Spanish tasting. A very well made ultra modern styled wine with very good+ concentration, but borderline jammy with a finish I find a bit too sweet. Not my preferred style of wine.

Decanted 2+ hours. Again very good. With self made Tapas. What a pairing. Still seemed as if it has many years left. 95 pts.

Almost to much of everything, but not in a bad way. Fully bodied, warm, modern, lots of wood with a lush dark fruit. Blueberries and ripe blue prunes. Needs a few more years in the bottle or a very long decant.

Consumed over 2 days. First day (without decantig) veeery tannic. Second day (air reduced with pump and stored over the night in the cellar) much more softer and more in balance. Don't touch this for at least 3-5 years. A very good wine. I guess this will improve a lot with more age. 93+ pts at the moment.

This is a powerful yet elegant wine. Dark and dense with an incredible chewy and plush mouth feel where the tannins just tingle on the palate. Vanilla bean, black berry, spice, and crème brulee come together with nicely balanced acidity. This is one the best expressions of tempranillo I have ever had. Seems to have years of life ahead but hard to imagine it any better than it already is.

Tasted twice before in 2011 and 2013, it is truly a pleasurable revisit to this masterpiece. The 2005 Aalto P.S. is just lovely tonight and offers up a rich array of dark mature fruit, fresh herbs like sage and thyme, white flowers and dark sun warm boysenberry. From magnum. Purple and glossy in colour, almost glass-stainingly intense. Lovely nose - concentrated and big, notes of ripe cherries, dark fruit, flowers, spices, smoke. On the palate by far the most backward in our line-up (despite extensive pre-dinner decanting). Grippy, powerful, big with firm tannins, lots of lovely fruit and good acidity. Impressive finish. The alcohol is showing a little at the end. Needs time, but very promising. 93-94+

Some Tempranillo at Cooking School (ICASI) : I really liked this wine but its future is ahead of it. I tend to think these wines need 15 years at least from vintage especially in a great vintage.
