Clos du Moulin aux Moines, Pommard Premier Cru, Clos Orgelot

Opened by Mark who purchased this in Paris. Not decanted but opened an hour before drinking. This comes from a monopole site and 40-70% of the grapes are destemmed. 20 day maceration. Light clear red color. Smokey nose. Sweet and creamy red fruit. Notes of Asian spices and black cherries. Structured tannins. Lengthy finish. 95 points

Medium bodied, elegant, yet structured and focused. Raspberries, stone cherries, white peaches, thyme, white pepper. Very long finish. Drinking great now, but has many years of life ahead.

Had time to sit down and really appreciate it this time around. Poured with Coravin. Medium ruby, just a slight browning giving a hint of ageing. Beautiful nose dominated by wild raspberries and some red cherries, supported by crushed stone, a green tint of tomato stalks, and just a hint of mushroom. Concentrated and fruitful on the palette, high yet balanced acidity. Light tannins, quite quaffable. Long finish. I adore this wine. In WSET3 terms it’s outstanding. Can age further, …

Quick note from Finansavisens wine fair. Lovely layered nose of red fruits and crushed stone. Supremely well balanced, a very elegant wine.
