Tasted one day after SQN Suey, what a pleasure to taste these two legendaries in a week. This was not a wine but the best sugar you will ever taste. Descriptions on nose are meaningless, what you have to remember was the dominating acidity, even the sugar is 400+g/L. The frist feeling in my mouth was sour rather than sweet. It tooke seconds for me to realized how sweet this esszencia was. MK had better winemaking skills but this wine …

Colour like a Coca Cola; syrupy consistency, this wine is a revelation. In the nose you can already smell the play of sweetness and acidity, quince jelly, candied pineapple, ginger, soya, nutmeg. On the palate, it's a revelation. The sweetness (460 grams) is countered by a laser-like acidity (almost 20 grams) in such a way that the wine, despite this sugar content, brings freshness and excitement to the tongue. Roses, various fruit jams, tangerine, beeswax - and a lot of …

With thanks to tinybubbles for providing this wine! I echo his comments on this - very pronounced honey and dried mango, this is clearly delicious but short of profound. Interesting that they list the sugar content both at harvest (53.3g 1000ml) and residual sugar (46g 100ml).

Consistent with past bottles, although this bottle came off as less well balanced in sweetness vs acidity. Rich wild honey, dried mango, dried nectarine, and marigold notes. Palate becomes somewhat numb after a glass. Beautiful juice though and best to sit on these for some number of years. 93-94

My first Esszencia! Intense marmalade/honey aromas with amazing acidity that keeps the wine fresh...but there's so much you can drink. Can't wait to taste the 1993.

Dark honey, honeysuckle, dried mango, nectarine and tangerine. Sweet but broad palate with balanced acidity and a long finish.

Wild honey, gooseberries, membrillo, apricot, dried orange, nectarine, and a variety of floral notes. Sweet, obviously, but a nicely balanced wine if sipped in small quantities. Flavors are clearly delineated. Finish lasts for half a minute. Not a wine for everyone, and clearly not for every occasion, but notable for what it is. Paired intermittently with a mild tiramisu, which worked fine but could have done better.

Spicy apricot jam, honey, orange marmalade, pineapple and brown sugar start off the nose. This deep, golden, honey colored wine is very sweet, yet refreshing with its ample levels of acidity. The finish is pure pineapples with a squeeze of lemon juice and sugar.

Drinking beautifully well. Amazing long finish with hints of orange peel. Lots going on here.

Is this wine? A very sweet syrup. Bit too sweet for my liking but the flavours were good. 7% alcohol.

delicious! candied apples, orange, good acidity - not super sweet like the 1993 but really enjoyable.
