Andre Goichot Savigny-lès-Beaune

Really enjoyed, very pleasantly surprised at the price point (around $40), deep ruby, small berries, elegant and rich with a dry finish. Paired well with filet. Will be looking to find more!

Color is aged rose Pinot. Whiff of barnyard for authenticity then subdued nose. Entry is plush framboise and cherry, surprisingly sweet fruit smothering any fine tannins and light on natural acid. An eccentrically ripe Savigny-les-Beaune, not a complaint, Bless the winemaker and the vines. Pinot tasters who praise bitter cranberry bottles may wish to sample a gift from Burgundy priced at $35.
