3rd Friday Group Tasting (R&D's) : Blind. Deep garnet color. Lovely mature bouquet featuring notes of plum, incense, violet, kirsch and blue fruit. Full-bodied with soft tannins and flavors of currants, pomegranate, mocha and raspberry. Lingering finish. I was fairly certain this was our Mondavi Oakville. This had been double decanted off its sediment ninety minutes before service. A pristine example that was drinking beautifully tonight- no reason to hold any longer IMO. 92+ pts.

Still drinking pretty well at the moment. Not sure it will benefit from further aging so drink up as the tertiary flavors of raisin / dried plums / earth are starting to take over.

4 years past it's supposed "drink-by-date" and it is drinking very fine. I still have some 2007 Reserve Cab that still has plenty of life left. This is a great wine.

In a very nice place right now. A great blend of primary and secondary Cabernet characteristics. Dark fruits, cedar, tobacco, and spice. Integrated tannins and a 45 second finish.

Holy cow - this is not what I expected. Very nice spicy cassis nose. Extracted fruit - excellent on the palate with a long, mildly spicy finish with very fine but deep tannins. This particular bottle punched way above it's weight. My wife would rate it even higher! Could age longer, but why wait?!

Awesome nose, moderate fruit, oaky, Long finish. Well balanced. Ready to drink, and I would drink up the rest this year.

Great cali cab. Nice nose of black fruits and leather. Good balance, fruit still present with some herbs and spices. Medium tannins. Good length. Will continue to develop with some more cellaring. I will wait another 5 years before I open my next bottle.

Solid cab, but nothing too exciting. The fruit has definitely faded a bit and it does have some subtle secondary characteristics. But it has not all quite come together to reach the potential I had hoped for. Wouldn't hold for much longer if you have them. This was my last. I have some '08s and '09s that I hope will achieve greater heights. Pretty good for $30, but not special on an absolute scale.

96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cab Franc. Double decanted 2-1/2 hours. Some sediment. Very fragrant when decanted. Mahogany/red to the edge. Nose of black fruit, currents and cherries. Fruit becoming earthy in the mouth, not so distinct as in the nose. Great balance, little noticeable tannin and medium to long finish. A little awkward with freshness of youth passed and maturity not quite arrived. Last bottle. If I had more, I would put them to sleep for another 4-5 years.

Expressive nose of menthol and dark fruit. Palate dominated by tannin and alcohol; dark fruit present but secondary. Fruit became more noticeable as tannins subsided, so recommend decanting, but this did not live up to expectations even after two hours. Oak too dominant, tannins too harsh. IMHO a few dollars more can go a long way, not to mention lower-priced wines with a similar taste/profile like Martini's Napa Valley.

Very tasty, hitting on all cylinders -solid fruit, balanced, tannins integrated, nuanced and good structure. Enjoy now.

PnP. In a perfect place right now, much better than one of my case I opened 2+ years ago. 10-year mark seems to be good for these Oakville Mondavi's - was true for my 2001's as well. Dusty tannins, good fruit. All commented that it was a fabulous cab. I plan to drink my 10 more bottles over the next few years and will add notes.

Sunday Group: Mini-Horizontals- Mondavi, Dominus & Chappellet (Mike's) : Double blind. Notes of currants, black cherry and green tobacco. Flavors of currant, tobacco and chocolate with a long finish. Develops a lovely perfumed floral quality as it sits. Elegant. 91+ pts. My #3, Domino's #5 Group #6, 65 pts

At MT Lake w K&J. Huge flavor, Oakville dust better integrated now. Excellent w 3 yrs left?

This is the first of 3 bottles purchased in 2011. Quite young with plenty of dark red fruit, soft tannins, and toasty oak. This will easily last 5+ more years and should improve.

Slight cassis, graphite and a touch of green pepper on nose. Vibrant acidity but rough and dry tannins clearly unresolved with little fruit and a short finish. An unresolved wine.
