Harvest Moon very brief impressions (winery) : Very pronounced, perfumed nose of tropical fruit, lychee, berries. Full bodied and rich, somewhat viscous, but not heavy. Stone and tropical fruit dominate the palate. Medium finish. Good.

Lots of roasted or stewed pineapple. Not a lot of spice, but it did go quite well with a pear crisp. Nice acid and sugar balance.

Very nice... went well with canelé de Bordeaux. Good acid/suagr balance. Doesn't have the kind of spice I like in my Geruwtz, but does seem pretty typical of the RRV sort.

Delicious! Blackberry, baking spices, impeccable balance, and just a great wine from Randy. Too bad we only had the single bottle! Despite having higher alcohol and sugar than the 2008/9 vintages, this didn't seem either hotter or sweeter. Amazing.

I pulled this out of the fridge and popped the cork to find a wet streak had gone completely up both sides of the cork and slightly stained the foil. So I was bummed but figured I might as well try it out and take some notes and pics. Color is a pale yellow, the wine is clear and free of any sediment or tartrate build up. Nose is full of pineapple and lychee with a bit of spice and straw. Palate is nicely balanced, although I'd be happy with a bit more acid (as I tend to prefer with dessert wine). Finish is medium - about 5-8 seconds. This is totally enjoyable, and pairs decently well with rhwmbo's matza-crack (that's matza with caramel and chocolate - hey, it's Passover!), but it's not sweet enough to really stand up to it. For a dessert wine this is a bit lacking. Very port like on the nose but this doesn't carry over. Somewhat sugary on the tongue with not much on the backend. Dried cherries and blueberries without too much of a finish.
