01046/1264, a minuscule production. Cedar, sandalwood, cherry, purple fruit, dark spice. Surprising elegance and concentration, so accessible, while retaining the glossy quality in its shell. Day two, much more pronounced red fruit and all spice, overtly perfumed grassy orange fruit in the best of green vintages. On the palate, superb concentration and delineation, with such impact in whole cluster completeness, if just a touch short on finish. Truly excellent vintage of this wine. 94-95

When PnP, it showed the signature stemmy DRC notes, but was otherwise rather closed. When 30 minutes of air, it opened up with Chinese herbal notes. With another 30-60 minutes of air, it even showed Dr. Pepper-style cherry coke notes. Thereafter, it became quite accessible, and showed floral, violet, licorice and VR-like spicey notes. It was more VR-like than expected. It has really good potential for further aging.

Wow. I could live in the nose. Cranberries, strawberries, black tea, delicate spices, and red florals. Totally seductive. Needed some time to unfurl on the palate, but texturally, this is an incredible balanced and structured wine. No wonder Corton is costing more than Echezeaux these days. This is the height of pleasure so early on. Can't wait to see what additional cellaring will do!

Premier nez Laurence me souffle fumée... je comprends bien son descriptif que j’associe plus à un côté cendré qu’on retrouve chez DRC. Au nez on a aussi de la rose, des fruits rouges et légèrement un peu de vanille. En bouche, ca explose, ca tapisse, c’est soyeux, mais on voit toutes les saveurs un peu sur la retenue. Belle longue finale. Sera encore plus harmonieux dans 5 ans.

Classic, bright strawberry fruit and spice notes. Intensely aromatic and very DRC. There's a good weight to the wine, and the flavors and purity are just wonderful, but there's a vivacity to it that I didn't expect. This is young, but it's very drinkable at this stage, and to my surprise is neither particularly hard nor obtrusively structural. A very nice wine.

Sunfish 400th Tasting (Sunfish cellars) : A small pour at a tasting. Nice good flavor and spice. Good structure. At this young age, I don't feel it differentiates itself much from other quality pinot. Best to hold.

Very bright and glossy ruby. Very intense nose of cranberry, pomegranate and red currants. Almost painfully pure. A lot of minerality and stones coursing through the nose. Focused like a laser beam on the palate, very long and intense, waves of red fruit, touch of incense, more minerality and wonderful cleansing and balanced acidity just cleaning it all up. Very long. You want to drink more of it! Still very young. Much better than the 2009.

2012 DRC Tasting (Paris, France) : Not much on the nose. Faint black pepper and spice. Dark fruit. Pretty closed. Slight red fruit over time. More red fruit on the palate and much fuller than the nose would suggest. Strawberries and roses and spice. Some mineral notes. Texture like a Rousseau.

Simply stunning young Corton. The nose is punchy, perfumed and spicy. It smells of freshly grated ginger, pommegranite, blueberries, smoke and sasprilla root. It is luscious and full in the mouth yet has a cool cherry stone heart and superb detail. It is obviously young but so balanced and expressive now and just a joy to drink.
