Taster #2499 · Jan 7, 2018
P&p. Good stuff, consistent with my note from almost four years ago except that this time the ginger is front and center right on p&p. Honey, caramel, ginger, stone fruit with a typical canned fruit cocktail aspect, and tobacco/grass/smoke notes that seem to wax and wane in intensity. Good acidity to balance the sweetness. In a fairly subtly but clearly oxidative, highly honeyed style. Characterful, tasty, complex, interesting, quite enjoyable. Held up just fine in the fridge over several days. …

Amber color (producer's website calls it a vin de voile de Sauternes). Smells like honey, caramel, stone fruit, smoke, and hints of flowers and spice. On the palate, fresh nectarine is prominent, much more so than on the nose; with plenty of rich honey, and subtler flowers, smoke, and spice. Fairly sweet, but well balanced by terrific acidity and freshness. Good stuff! Day 7 (under vacuvin): still improving, developing ginger cookie and marmalade notes, delicious.
