Drank with a chocolate dessert. Deep dark purple in the glass. Still packing a punch with a small hint of effervescence (?). Dark black fruit is muted. Did not detect any secondary notes. Mouth coating finish. Some folks at the table thought it was port-like.

100% montepulciano.

The note by Antonio Galloni from June 2011 is still valid today: „The 2008 Marche Rosso Kurni is quite unusual in this vintage. The wine comes across as rather compact in its fruit, which accentuates the sweetness of the fruit and the French oak. In a blind tasting the 2008 could easily be mistaken for a sweet red dessert wine. Let's hope 2008 turns out be an anomaly for one of the Marche's most famous reds.” Almost 10 years later, …

Not my cup of tea. Too sweet, chewy and fruity for my liking but Eddie loved it. Suffered from being drunk after a 2004 Camartino which was heaven.

The last of my 4 bottles and it's drinking as well now as it did 10 years ago. A big wine, even now, with enough tannin in the backbone to keep it balanced. A agree with other tasters who compared it to a Port, although it definitely stops short of that. I would imagine it will continue to drink well for at least a few more years.

Purchased in Spello in 2006. Darked purple; Port-like; prune, ripe grape, cocoa, licorice, wood nose; mid-body to big; semi-chewy; good structure, flavors; a little hot on the finish (15.0 alc.). BBQ/beef wine

What a great wine! It has clearly come together and developed gracefully since I last tasted it back in 2008. Expressive aromas of black and red fruit with indian spices, leather and some toast evolving with some red licorice and rose petals. Very nice! The palate is full bodied with mouth coating tannins that have become smoother and more integrated with the lively core of fruit and some fresh acidity. The finish last for ever and remains fresh throughout. This …

Drinking absolutely fantastic right now. Nose right out of the decanter after an hour out of the bottle was more of a port than a Marche red; deep purple in color, inky, almost fig-like in color. First taste was that of raisins, dates, dark fruits, but over time it evolved to leather, volcanic ash , blackberries. Extremely refined and masterfully crafted bottle of wine, paired very well with mushrooms, pasta in cream sauce, and goat. One of my all time …

Well rounded, flavorful, bold, balanced Italian wine. Leg longs, soft finish, low acidity, and meaty flavor. Perfecto with meat, had with lamb. Very good wine, ready to drink now!

En gnutta flyktiga syror som får mig att tänka på Piemonte. Men kraftigare än så. Riktigt bra, befäster Marche som en oerhört underskattad region.

dark, inky red. Jammy fruit, lots of oak, and very sweet. Palate-fatiguing wine. Hard to drink with food. I couldn't even finish the bottle. Too much of everything. Overly heavy. Overpriced for what it is.

- Garnet color - Took to the Cisco MoD Wine tasting event co-hosted with John Manville. Was a crowd pleaser. Pared well with the Ameraone. Liked it, scored higher than 91.

Quite rich, concentrated, slightly jammy nose with prunes, black berries, and hints of tar and mushrooms. Full-bodied, noticeably sweet and bitter. Fruity, even jammy palate with red apples, plums, prunes. Silky. Very spicy, finishes hot and slightly bitter. Didn't like the sweetness at all.

Colore inchiostro scuro ed impenetrabile. Frutta nera matura, cioccolato, tabacco. Si sente leggermente il legno ma e' ben integrato. Ingresso in bocca dolce, poi si espande, denso e saturante. Ha comunque un suo equilibrio grazie a tannino ed acidita', ben presenti.

Red dark color , violet , dark fruit , plum, spices, licorice , cocoa . On the palate is explosive , full bodied , all the dark fruit is there but is not sweet because the hight acidity create a balance and make you wanting more wine to sip colore scuro , violaceo , al naso composta di frutta, prugna , spezie , liquirizia, cioccolato. in bocca ha una potenza esplosiva , ti sconvolge se ti coglie impreparato , si …

Altro vinone molto tosto, con colore nerastro e concentratissimo. Non è però ne fastidioso ne dolce.

An absolute blockbuster. Exhibits deep aromas of gorgeous dark and ripe fruit, with loads of exotic Indian spices, smoked meats, chocolate covered cherries and a mineral character. Full-bodied and super powerful, boasting masses of tannins and fruit that go on and on and on. This wine is extremely unique and just absolutely mouthwatering! - JD96+

UWS 2010-01 (@ JB) : This wine must be not in the best drinking stage now. It is concentrated with glue in the bouquet as well as the taste. Also chocolate and good sweetness, acidity and bitterness. For the moment I scored it 89, but when it ages another 4 - 5 years it might be higher.

Deep dark, almost black colour. Impressive aromas of black fruit, vanilla, toast and spices. Full bodied with palate-gripping tannins and loads of fruit. A long finish that echoes all the various elements of the initial tasting. Still a bit unbalanced and turbulent, needs time to find some peace.... Perhaps a lot of time, drink 2013 - 2030. Impressive and exciting right now, could move to 95+ point when given time to become more harmonious.

Italian Tasting at K&L : Dark, pitch black cassis, plum, earth, chocolate. Slightly sweet, as it is made from partially raisined fruit. Quite tannic. Like most wines of this type (save a few Sforzato) this didn't do a lot for me.

This is a giant, inky Montepulciano that was not ready to drink - my imagination ran wild however in imagining how wonderful this wine will be a decade from now.
