Domaine Latour-Giraud Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières

Rogue VII : Chevaliers’ Rogue at Hearth. From a mag. Unyielding nose. Still fresh with zesty acidity. More tangerines, and taught minerality. Felt tight, and indeed did become more approachable over the evening, but I felt a bit crestfallen; expected more.

2014 Latour-Giraud Whites (Dig Wines, San Francisco) : Classic Meursault nose of hazelnut. Wow, what a gloriously creamy texture that seems imparted by the grape and not the cooperage. This is long and has great depth, Grand Cru level in this respect, but I don't find the acidity and stoniness that I expect in great Perrières. One can hope that it will eventually show more structure to buffer the terrific raw material.
