Intense and elegant wrapped in understated, powerful beauty. Glorious nose of black fruit, earth and graphite. Palate a laser beam of black fruit, spice, and long, ethereal finish that lasts over a minute. My last bottle but in a very sweet place... drink up!

Moncur Syrah/Shiraz (Bistro Moncur, Sydney) : Jammy black fruits, sweet spice, slight caramel, cedar. Juicy, baked and concentrated black fruits, touch of residual sugar, leather, liquorice, coarse flours tannin, alcohol warmth. Not for me. Woof!

In the decanter an hour prior to drinking. Ruby/garnet wit a purple hue, that fades with time open. Black fruits, some violet and perfumed prettiness there too, spice, clove and that Cambrian soil savouriness. Lovely ‘Aussie’ style shiraz that holds its 15% very well. Enjoyed this a lot. No rush here, holding up very well.

if you love the old school aussie fruit bomb this is for you. Big rich extracted style with plenty of oak treatment . Great if you like the style

NYE 2020 (Home) : Very open, quite oaky but not too much so, straightforward and enjoyable.

Rich, ripe, Heathcote shiraz. Lovely length, complexity and power. Quite ripe.

This bottle showed riper with more oak than my prior; more reminiscent of a new world syrah and not necessarily in a good way; ripe black fruit, violet, oak on the nose; palate is ok, but lacks vibrancy; not as good as my prior bottle

I agree with Ron that this is more forward and approachable than most Jasper Hill at this stage. It still has the typical firmness, richness and complexity. Good length, just a little more open as a youngster.

Totoraku Cali Cabs & Syrahs Dinner (Totoraku) : Would never have pegged this as a shiraz in a blind tasting. Surprising and great.

Beautiful wine. Still hugely powerful at age 21. The nose is explosive with black currant, black raspberry, smoke, roasted meats, lots of pepper, violets, and hints of anise. The palate is surprisingly structured for a wine this age with still robust tannins and huge power. There is enough acidity to keep it tasting fresh and balanced. Really lovely and still about the only Aussie Shiraz I've had that I really like and would buy more of.

Simply outstanding-- plums, blackberry, graphite, white chocolate and zippy acidity-- impeccable balance! The nose is beguiling... the palate is seamless and even with a 2 hour decant (and consumed over the following 8 hours) the wine tasted fresh throughout. It easily has 5+ years ahead, but why deny yourself if you have any bottles???

Another outstanding bottle from Down Under. Can I say that if well-aged and from a good producer Shiraz is a world class grape? Dark coloured. Complex to the bone on the nose. Aromas of plums, blackberries, cooked meat, white chocolate among many others. A perfume. Tremendous effort on the palate. Distinctly sweet entry, perfect balance and good length. Dry finish. A good Cuban cigar would be the perfect mate. Otra botella extraordinaria de las Antípodas. ¿Puedo decir que si bien …

I'm undecided about this. It's great except for the acidic finish that puts me off.

Deep opaque purple color. Very full bodied. Medium aroma of black fruits. On the palete, tons of fruit without the rich jamminess of Barossa. Trailed off a bit and lacked much complexity or secondary flavors. Still youthful, but drinking fine. May continue to improve some with age. 9/02
