Mayo Family Winery Zinfandel Port Ricci Vineyard

Purple/red color. Nose of rich raisin and blackberry liqueur with anise and tobacco. Dense on the palate: sweet fig, leather, and sambuca. Good acidity provides a counterpoint. Finish lingers with loads of hot peppercorn. Would recommend as a dessert wine, not a food wine. Very nice when chilled a little colder than cellar temperature.

Beautiful floral-fruitty nose. This is a super-exaggerated fruit bomb. So sweet it could have been easily labeled as port wine, seriously! I read everything in the bottle to make sure this was not a zin-port wine... nope, just zin. Not nearly worth the 40 bucks I paid for it. If it wasn't for the great aroma it had this would be a 75.
