Although the image of Bordeaux has been suffering in recent years, it seems to me increasingly easy to find attractive and good value wines from outlying parts of the region like this one from Blaye and others from, say, Bourg, Fronsac, Castillon, etc. Sturdy well coloured, medium+ bodied wine showing nicely ripe berry fruit with hints of cassis, underlying roundness, nicely fresh acidity and firmness on the finish.
