PnP definitely needs a bit more air to really shine

Rather rustic and earthy smelling to it. Actually, that was just off the cork pull. Swirling brings it to broad and powerful, but stuff.

Saturated, very dark red violet color; aromatic, blackberry, berry compote, black cherry, clove nose showing a little heat; berry compote, dried cherry, blackberry, clove palate with balancing acidity; medium-plus finish (80% Grenache, 12% Mourvèdre, 8% Syrah; 14.5% alcohol; composition cork)

Double decant. Blackberry. Tannic. Boozy. Pretty one dimensional. I don’t love it. Not bad for the money.

Saint-Galet's 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a deep ruby blend of 80% Grenache, 12% Mourvèdre and 8% Syrah. Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours, it delivers a ripe package of black and red bramble fruits that are accented with Provençal herbs, tobacco and sous bois. Medium-bodied, well-cut, lightly oaked, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%) and with soft sweet tannins, it stays solid in the middle and finishes with medium length. A little raisination going on here. And a little taught on the palate. Fruity, for the price.

This drinks like a good quality CdR, or an average quality CdRV. Perfectly enjoyable, true to the southern Rhone, but underwhelming for CdP.

Nice easy drinking Cdp. Easy on the wallet as well. Nice fruit, some spice notes, lighter in profile. Decent finish. Would buy again.

This is pretty nice. It has subtle sweet red fruit on the nose and nice dark red color. Nice dark fruit flavor and tannins on the palate. Medium weight and not too jammy. The tannins aren’t too distracting but another year or two in the bottle might mellow it out a bit. The price in California was pretty reasonable for a CNP. Pretty good QPR.
