Pop and pour. Evidently on the downslope, but still solid. Much softer than previous showings. Loads of black tea and soft black cherry. On the palate: softer acidity than I would like, but lovely weight and density, with attenuated tannins.

Prior bottle was 1 year ago and my notes were very consistent, showing me the wine is at peak, but holding up perhaps slightly better than I expected. Dark red raspberry contrasted with brighter red cherry/strawberry on the nose, supported by earth, spices and just a touch of vanilla/oak. Medium bodied with red raspberry upfront, showing good roundness and alongside brighter red cherry. Mid -body adds a bit more depth as well as notes of darker red raspberry and some …

Prior bottle was 11 months ago and the wine remains in a good spot. The contrast between the darker raspberry and the brighter strawberry (along with earth and spice notes) continues to make for a pretty nose. Medium bodied with red raspberry and slightly more high toned red cherry upfront. These notes continues through the middle, gaining a bit of depth, but really more in the way of roundness. Backside has a balanced mix of fine grained tannins and acidity …

A String of Successful Pinot Noirs!; 5/3/2022-9/7/2022 (NW DeeCee) : Concentrated aromas and palate that echoed each other in the dark red fruit and spice components. Fully resolved tannins, rich but not quite plush. Drinking very well now and if forced to complain you could call it a bit simple.

Prior bottle was 14 months ago and this wine continues to show well. Darker raspberry and lighter strawberry along with earth and spice notes on a nose that got deeper and better defined the longer this was open. Medium bodied with rounded red raspberry and slightly brighter red cherry upfront. Mid-body adds a touch of extra depth along with some light black cherry qualities before shifting to tart red cherry, tannins, acidity, spices earth and minerals. The backside into the …

Remains solid, now at 8 years old. Pale ruby color. Offers dried strawberry, toast, soy sauce and some dried herbs. Medium-light bodied, with a graceful silkiness to it. Dusty on the palate, with tart red fruit and powdery tannins.

Rather different from my last btl. Five hours or so air. Much more mineral, with loads of crushed stone and red berry. Lovely hi-toned acid on the palate; crushed red raspberry, attenuated tannin on the finish. Nose is better than the palate.

Better than the last one I had - a little stifling right out of the bottle, but became more balanced and relaxed over time. Good value at $30.

Ok…More like a classic Oregon pinot than than Southern CA….not an over extracted / concentrated pinot trying to be cloud pleasing. IMO this needs 10 years . Very clear and clean. Austere sour cherry, strawberry, kiwi, Tart acid …long finish . Probably could age and gain complexity over 20….in another country this is Called burgundy lol

A post-lockdown weekend with friends; 5/1/2021-5/3/2021 (Copse Hill, Lower Slaughter) : The last bottle. Opened to go with the cod loins in breadcrumbs. Better than the Gusbourne 2018; not as good as the Julicher 2013. Otherwise consistent with previous.

2nd of three bottles consumed. Slightly better than the first bottle of 8 months ago. Light fruit structure of mostly strawberries & raspberries with some salinity and, as mentioned elsewhere, a dusty component that is cab-like on the finish. I prefer Chanin to Lutum, and much prefer his 2012’s to these discounted 2014’s. A “Bell-curve” wine. Good at PnP, best at the 2 hour mark, then a fade to mediocrity by day 2. Good QPR but certainly not a show-stopper

Prior bottle was 11 months ago and my notes were virtually identical. Nose shows black cherry, blackberry and mineral notes. Medium bodied with a combination of rounded black cherry and slightly brighter blackberry both upfront and through the middle. Mid-body shows good depth and balance. PNP and ate with Salmon teryaki. Pale garnet color. Offers dusty aromas of dried cherry and strawberry, soy sauce, white pepper and a hint of cola. Balanced and graceful, this remains a real stunner. Silky texture, medium-light bodied, with a frame of broad fine-grained tannins around a dusty palate of red fruit and pepper.

Opened yesterday; on the counter overnight. On the nose: loads of loads of red fruit, toasty sandalwood, a touch of hi-toned va, and spices. On the palate: excellent hi-toned acidity, good density, wild strawberry, sour plum, some tannic bitterness..transitioning into finely grained tannins. Better than my last btl.

Prior bottle was just over eight months ago and my notes were virtually identical. Raspberry, strawberry, earth and spice notes on the nose. Medium bodied with a very similar flavor profile to my prior bottle: a mix of red raspberry and red cherry upfront showing good balance and roundness. This was spicy, a bit in your face, cherry cough syrup, cranberry, baking spices, cardamon, clove, etc., but not gooey or heavy as this is only 13.9%! A little weak in the mid. Adrien's Blind night

Not bad. On the nose: dusty red fruit, soft wet leaf, raspberry...fairly generic. On the palate: good acidity, dense red fruit and spice, nice density, but still fairly simple. On the finish: very soft coarsely grained tannin. I'm surprised how different these are than the Lutum wines...I've really enjoyed Lutum wines, and this was a disappointment.

The first thing I really liked was the aroma. It smells fruity in an elegant way. The wine is smooth and tasty with a little tartness and acidity but it helps prevent the wine from being sweet. Overall a very good Pinot and I think if you are a Cab drinker like me you will enjoy this and other Chanin Pinots. Very impressive imho.

Prior bottle was only six months ago, but given how well the last bottle showed, felt it was worthwhile and was well rewarded. Nose continues to show blackberry, black cherry and mineral notes. Medium bodied and the flavor profile was essentially the same with a mix of black cherry and blackberry, followed by tart black cherry and minerals behind and through the finish. The mid-body felt a bit more expressive and defined with the combination of rounded black cherry and …

Prior bottle was 10 months ago and my notes were very consistent; this wine remains in a nice spot. Nose was virtually identical: cool black cherry and brighter blackberry, mixed with mineral notes. Medium bodied with the same mixture of blackberry and black cherry upfront and through the middle. Prior bottle was nine months ago and my notes were very consistent. Black cherry, blackberry and mineral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with cool and rounded blackberry upfront, deepening into black cherry through the middle. Lingering minerals and tart blackfruit mark the backside into the finish. A mix of blackberry and black cherry notes on the nose. Medium bodied (13.23% ABV) with blackberry and black cherry upfront. Impressive mix of brightness and more tart notes. Mid-body is smooth, rounded and black velvet in character. Adding depth before the transition to the finish where it shows mineral qualities and lingering blackfruit. The wine has good complexity, but what makes it special is the mix of fruit and acidity. This isn't a full bodied, extracted, powerful CA style, …

This wine is simply elegant like dinner with Aubrey Hepburn or my wife. It is lithesome and light bodied. The nose is of earth and mineral. The wine is tart enough to clean the palate but coats the mouth with nice fruit flavor. The finish is smooth and easy. Nice job Gavin.

From 75cl, P+P. I have to disagree with SlimShaney (TN 18.11.2017) – unfortunately this wasn't a great choice for a modern Michelin star restaurant (OK, Alimentum just lost its star, but that's splitting hairs). Partly it was a matter of the taste-fireworks on my plate making it seem, frankly, pretty complacent and flat. But the necessities of restaurant service really didn't help: At home I would have waited another 2-3 years, decanted, and served this at around 14-15C; P+P at …

Tempted for 93 but nope, 92. Im trying to appreciate what others see in pinot - and generally Im just not getting it, though with the exception of some 'new world' artisans who make it bigger and more exciting. It's thin yet weighty yet watery. At a modern Michelin star restarurant this would be outstanding paired with food. It's not ideal for what I'd drink non food accompanied at home into winter but actually it worked. It's a pleasure to …

The nose showed minerality up front, as crushed stone gave way to ripe strawberry with hints of dried flowers and spice. On the palate, I found energetic textures with great acidity giving thrust and lift to its red berry fruit and wild herbal tones. It finished structured and grippy, begging for a few years to strut its stuff, yet already enjoyable on potential alone.
