Beautiful fruit and a sense of elegance despite its size. Only wished for a little more structure to elevate it further, but the vintage may have held it back a bit in that regard. Still, a delicious and smile-inducing bottle of Cabernet.

Outshined by a 2016 Bard, but no vegetal notes to speak of. This was clean and pure with blackberry compote and plum. Dense and weighty with residual sweetness but not too much. Great to share a family made product for a dinner party with folks who are interested in “bold” reds but don’t want something mass produced or too confected.

Drinking well, as others have pointed out it's well integrated. I preferred this over the GIII's from a residual sugar balance angle. However, the vegetable notes are still there despite the maturity, so the vintage lets it down as I don't enjoy that aspect.

Pop n poured after trying a 2005 pontet canet that had been decanted but was not ready to go. The Myriad was drinking very well. Dark fruit not excessive fruitiness then can often find with Dr Crane. Also maybe slight hint of sweetness which was nice as dont like any excessive residual sugar. Great 2017 napa cab!

Neighborhood christmas dinner. Consensus cab of the dinner versus tough comp (all very good) HALL exzellenz (2014--#2), and M.Etain (2013), with beef tenderloin and appropriate sides. Thanks Mike & Leah.

This did well as a pop and pour. Red and black fruit, smooth, well-integrated, with a hint of blue fruit and sweetness. Went down very easily, especially with a gourmet burger.

Decanted 60 minutes. Tasted over 2 days. Fruit forward, grainy sweet tannin, blackberry, red cherry, licorice, Dr Crane perfume.

An excellent bottle. Now is the time to consume I think. The dark fruit and even vegetable notes are really beautifully integrated, and any harsh pepper notes are gone. It still feels fruit forward, but in a slow and drawn out fashion. Alcohol and residual sugar are kept in check nicely. What's holding it back from a higher score is more structure on the backside; so I don't think it has more to give, but is in a great place …

Double decanted to take to restaurant. Paired great with Beef tenderloin. Hedonistic, with big blue and dark fruits. Smooth tannins. Did not notice the 2017 hot year affects that I have picked up on some other Napa Cabs. Just delicious.

Had a sip after opening and it was closed and lean. An hour of decant was all that we needed for this to come together - full bodied, cassis, and blackberry. It was one of the best 17 Napa beckstoffer wines we've had. Considering the $265-300 tariff for the 19s and 21s, the 175-195 price for the 17 is worth trying. Kudos to Mike Smith again.

2 hour decant. Dark red in color, little bit of the green pepper I expect in the '17s. Dark cherry, then subdued tannins, chocolate on the back side. Ready to go now.

Opened this at the end of the night as a pop and pour. It was very good but for the next bottle I will definitely decant.

Stewed cranberries and firm tannins. Severed a little warm which did not help it. Took some time to open up. Suggest decanting or better yet hold for several more years.

A big style wine. Still showing lots of youth. Blackberry and white chocolate notes. Mid pallet shows Velvety tannins. With the acidity and alcohol coming through on the finish which keeps the wine from being cloying. Interested to see how this develops.

Decanted for 2+ hours and drank without food before and after going out to dinner. Tasty big fruit and spices on the earlier glasses, more chocolate notes later. So smooth and balanced, still some grip from the tannins but alcohol went unnoticed. My last 750 of this (as I try to clear through my ‘17s). But I have a magnum which I will hold for 3-5.

Excellent wine. Encouraged by Dr Bad’s recent note I decided to open this one again. 2 hour decant, not much evolution, even on day 2. But drinking really nicely. Chocolately, berries, silky tannins. All in balance. You would not guess the vintage.

Last of my '17 Elysisans, not sure why I haven't written any TNs. Excellent wine for the '17 vintage. Big, sexy, plush, silky with chocolate, dark cherry, cassis and vanilla.

Decanted an hour and consumed half the bottle over a couple hours. Second half of the bottle drank on day 2. Wonderfully aromatic and captivating on the nose. Palate is full of dark berries, bing cherry, some chocolate, and at times a vegetal/bell pepper note. There was a bit of an underlying harshness toward the finish on this bottle that I don’t recall from drinking this vintage previously. More mellow on day 2, but the fruit was more jammy and …

7 months since my last bottle and boy, did this one change its MO. Pnp into a decanter for 4 hours. Big juicy dark berry fruit and some alc upfront. Kept waiting for the green, stemmy phase to show up at 2 hours and it never did. A 96 then. Put it back in the bottle to slow ox another 30 min before taking it to our group. Tasted over 3+ hours from there. Still some tannins showing as the …

Man, oh man. As Beau11 said, if you have concerns about this being a 2017, don't worry. This came out of the bottle as a P'n'p ready to rock. Went beautifully with a NY strip steak. I've got one bottle left. Can't wait to see if another couple of years of age makes for any improvement.

Pop and pour. This is a firehose of youthful flavors with red and black fruit, very lively tannins, punchy alcohol, and a touch of citrus peel from the cold vintage. May improve with a bit of age. 94+

Juicy, jammy nose and fruit on the pnp.....at 2.5 hours in the decanter there is a green, stemmy nose, not offputting but not a fav either. At 4.5 hours this bottle rocks! Open for bidness! Great cab nose of graphite and dark ripe fruit. A hint of menthol/eucalyptus on the nose now. Great entry of perfectly balanced red/black fruit matching acidity and tannins. In an excellent place right now. Getting down to the last glass and not happy about it. …

Blind tasting vs 2012 Tynan St Helena. My new fun weekly experiment of letting my girlfriend pull any 2 bottles from the cellar and seeing what I can guess. Both were given about 3 hours in the bottle at cellar temp before tasting. Fun experiment, drinking two winemakers (Tynan vs Smith) from 2 very different vintages. CT: Black/blue fruit. Nice nose. I actually thought this wine tasted a bit boozier, with firmer tannins than the Elysian. Still tight - possible …
